Standard for some fans though, they have a bad game, they should be taken outside and shot. Have a good game and they are the knew coming and saviour of the clubs till he makes a mistake and then isnt up to standard

| It is only one performance but it was better than anything Herbert has produced. A dramatic improvement wasthe ability to kick the ball deep when under pressure. I know the wind helped but at times Herbert's kicks have been the equivalent of an error, with the fullback simply catching the ball and getting back to the half way line.
I hope we stick with this partnership and that includes when Kearney is fit.

Nobody is saying that
I think what most people are saying is let's have some consistency in the halves. There were signs apparently that Briggs and Jeffries were starting to get it together against HKR, and that was built upon yesterday. It would seem ridiculous to throw that out of the window and bring Herbert back against Salford when he showed very little before.
I'd give Briggs and Jeffries another two or three games for definite. If the partnership isn't really gelling and progressing by then, that's the time to bring Herbert back.
It's the constant chopping and changing - whether for injuries or choice - that's hurting us

| briggs looked a lot better yesterday than against halifax. looked a real threat.
from what I've read of Herbert and other's views on him then he'd make a decent stand off. decent short passing game, creative close to the line. I wouldn't drop jeffries though.

| I think the reason Briggs hasn't been picked ahead of or along side Herbert this year is that they are both too similar as players. I think the introduction of Jeffries who can play a different game at half back means that either Herbert of Briggs can play their more natural game.

He played well at hull KR too. Appreciate what you are saying but he was written off even quicker in the first place

| Quote: ex Bull Dog "Briggs and Jeffries appear to be forming a much more cohesive partnership than anything else I've seen us put out this year. And this showed in places last week too'" I agree. I think BJ has given us more options and it's good to see him run at the line like he did yesterday. His pass out wide for Ah Van's try was superb.
It's a tough call but I'd stick with Briggs and Jeffries for the Salford game.

| I thought he went quite well. There was the obvious balls up with the kick that led to the Finch try but apart from that he was fine. I think we need to be careful not to go overboard because he did only what a decent side would expect from its stand off.
It was clear that the backline finally managed to execute moves properly this week which was such a refreshing change it probably explains the praise everyone is getting. Based on that I'd continue with the same side vs Salford. Playing a settled backline is key to getting some cohesion and Briggs and Jeffries seemed to work well in tandem.
Briggs has some way to go but showed with his long kicks and his assist for Royston that he has got potential. He should remain No6 for now.

Yes this is true but was nice to see. Hopefully the partnership and team can kick on.

Re
The halves did play well, but we shouldn't overlook the forwards who turned up and provided some space for one of the few times this season. It really is much easier for the halves when they have time to check the options instead of going into panic mode when they receive the ball. It's obviously pretty impossible to say how Herbert and Kearney would have played behind the pack on Sunday, but I'm certain they would have been better than they have been over recent weeks. Still think Kearney's best spot is FB, though.
It will be interesting to see what Potter does, though I would like to see nucleus that team given another go against the Reds.

| There's no reason to change the team from Sunday apart from the wing spot if Raynor is unlucky enough to be banned.
Keep some consistency with the team going in to two must win games.

Only change I'd be tempted to make is Addy in on the bench for Olbison, assuming Addy came through the u20s okay.

Rubbish! No-one is insinuating anything like that. Are people not allowed to praise players after good games? Find me someone that's gone on record saying he's the saviour of this club. I think people are just happy to see Briggs come through and perform well against the current champions of Super League after some of the dross he's been quite frankly, unacceptably given out on this message board.
The lad is getting a run of games under his belt and it's showing, completely unfair to judge him on single games like Salford away.
