Not sure if this is going to be same once season starts. Can't see them not having cash tunstyles once season proper starts, Think its just a way of cutting costs for friendlies.'"
I'd like to get clarity on this point
There are occasions, quite a few, when I don't know for sure whether I can go to a game until the day. I certainly don't want to be penalised to the extent of £5 every time this happens

Remember Green bringing in the £5 extra on gameday season before last. Don't recall whether it was carried on last year under Chalmers as im on a season ticket. Looks like it going to be standard this year ( think a few other teams are doing it now too).

Great. Because I sometimes don't know until the Sunday whether I can go, I'm penalised £5...
How NOT to encourage walk up support, Mr Chalmers

Surely you can buy and download an e ticket on Game Day with no extra charge?

Nope. I did that on Boxing Day for my little sister and had to pay £5 even though it was free literally the day before.

Think it's a bit harsh to have a dig at Chalmers when other clubs are doing same.
Leeds,Huddersfield,Wakefield,Keighley all charge extra when you purchase on day, Bradford city is £20 before match day and £25 on match day. Sure they will be more clubs too.

| If it's going to be set up like the Boxing Day game, make sure you get there in plenty of time before kick off as there'll only be 2 turnstyles open

| It will be for cash flow purposes. if they offer a half or quarter season ticket at some point as I seem to recall has happened in the past, that might sort your problem Paul. Give them a call to see if they have such plans, it might just sow the seed or nudge them along. Until then, they are bringing the cash flow forward, and the technology is there - has been for a long time - to do it. cash flow shouldn't be a problem now, but later in the season it will be. Gone are the days of creditors accepting end of month following terms, its 30 - or 14 - days from invoice date. So pulling receipts forward to keep the creditors quiet between home games is necessary. I cannot wait to see the accounts for last season as they may reveal how the miracle was achieved, though the small company exclusions may render them worthless for analysis.

| So isn't it actually the case that if you buy before hand you are getting it cheaper, but if you buy on the day it's normal entry price? That might be a better way of psychologically reconciling yourself with the higher fee?

Plenty of places hike the prices up on matchday and have for years. I'm not aware of other RL clubs that hike it by a fiver, but that's not to say there aren't any. I think people are OK with paying an extra couple of quid, but when you start getting to £5 or more, it will put some off.
It's certainly put me off for this week for example. I'm not going to get time to go up to the ticket office today now (was hoping to, but work has got in the way), and no chance I'll ever pay an extra fiver on matchday, so decision has been made to just not bother. Even if I could pre-order a ticket now and collect it on Sunday, from the horror stories I've heard from friends who went on Boxing Day, I can't be bothered queueing for all that time just to collect it.
As much as people can no doubt see the reasoning they're doing this, the fact remains that putting the price up on matchday, and having these convoluted ways of selling tickets instead of just letting people pay on the gate, means some fans will be put off. I know a lot of that is purely down to people's laziness or stubborness, but people want their matchday to be an enjoyable one, not a frustrating one (save what happens on the pitch). Hopefully for the club the extra money they make/save by using this method, makes up for those it loses.

Bang on.
Aside from my own specific situation, how many people are there - largely at the... ahem.. 'older end' - who simply have no means of ever buying a ticket via 'that new fangled Internet thing'? Are we really expecting a 75 year old bloke who lives in, say, Baildon or Greengates, to get two buses to Odsal to buy an advance ticket? Clearly not. So why should that person have to be penalised (and however you dress it up, it does feel like that)? It feel annoying at best.
I just don't see an upside to it. All it does it make it much less likely that you'll get a decent 'walk up' support. I mean, how many people might there be who (obviously not in January) who look out of the window at lunchtime on a sunny Sunday and say to their missus: 'It's a lovely day, shall we go and watch the Bulls?' Then they find out it will cost then an extra tenner...
