I thought he looked like he was putting weight on. The last thing we need is his waters breaking in a tight finish.

No they said he was hoping to be fit not that he was fit. His injury I was told was likened to a serve car crash injury.

| Lowes' post match interview said they were training with him during the week expecting him to play but he didn't quite make it.

| Whisper it quietly, but the potential is there - if Gaskell and Mullaney are passed fit for Saturday - that we might actually be able to name our strongest possible 17 for what I think could be the first time this season?
When you stop and think about the constant disruption and injuries we have had to our 1, 6 and 7 this season it's quite an achievement that we are where we are right now.

| Question is, do you play our best 17 or leave out a few like Mullaney/Fergie who seem to pick up injuries? I can't see too many being left out but I don't see much point risking a key player like Mullaney unnecessarily.

| Well Jimmy's philosophy up until now has always been to play his strongest side available. I wouldn't expect him to change tact now.

| Has his missis had the baby yet? Every one was concerned it might have been last weekend.

As a parent of five children, I find it very strange that it has become acceptable that top sportsmen seem to be now able to take as much time off from their job on the off chance that their wife / partner might just happen to give birth at the worst moment. From my experience, babies can come anytime within a two to three week window. Why not name him in the squad and if she happens to go into labour at 2.00 pm on Saturday, then fair enough.
If he's injured, that's one thing - but leaving him out of a 19 man squad because his wife's waters might break on Saturday afternoon is a poor excuse IMO.
Am I being unsympathetic?

Who knows, but if she hasn't it's not something she'd appreciate being in the public domain. Sounds like he has trained all week though which is encouraging on the injury front. As others have said, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see him play on Sat.

Possibly but more likely jumping to conclusions unless you've seen it stated by somewhere credible that he's not playing for the above reasons.
