| Quote: mat "surely solution is fairly simple.
Winner of championship gains promotion only if team in 12th place is also a grade B.
Granted only works while there are less then 12 grade A clubs but in short term makes winning championship meaningful again and once your in SL you have better chance of improving your score to an A grade'"
The trouble is all 3 Superleague Grade B clubs could easily be Grade A's by the end of the next season. I'd expect Hull and Huddersfield to do it as they are both only a few tweaks off. Especially once the Superleague clubs agree on the revisions to the grading to ensure it.
I think we're knackered. It's a closed shop until they realise TV ratings and attendances continue to go nowhere (with half the Superleague fixtures dead rubbers after Easter) and this latest stupid gimmick is dropped.

| How about adding a little more jeopardy? If the Champs GF falls on a full moon in the third weekend of the month, all bets are off and the winning club can nominate the SL club they replace!!!!
Unless of course that SL club won their third game of the season by a margin of 30 points giving them the get out of jail free card that can only be trumped if the winning championship club has a kit man called Nigel?
It's simple, fair and game changing I reckon! The crowds will flock back

| Thinking outside the box could we have teams outside the top tier play each other twice. Do it home and away to make it fairer with the winner getting 2 points. At the end of the year you'll be able to see who has the most points and they could go into the top tier.

That's too complicated, it'd never work. The fans would never get their heads round that!

I bet that alone is responsible for the increased season ticket sales. Thank God IMG came on board.

It's fully soundproofed so no one can hear Mickey G's commentary!

How does that ensure superleague clubs are making the best use of tiktok?

| On a serious note, why not have the league leaders crowned champions for the championship and enter into a bottom 2 (SL) and top 2 (champ) play-off.
Still pretty weighted towards SL clubs, but at least makes the end of season a little more worthwhile.....

| There may be a super league life line, with the way Salfords’ finances are at the moment, asking for advanced funding from super league to get them through the winter months.
Wouldn’t want to gain entry at the expense of a club in financial difficulties, as we have had more than most, but if someone were to benefit we should make sure we are best placed to step in.

| Currently we're behind Toulouse, London and York in IMG scores. London have their own financial issues so can probably be discounted as contenders. I'm not sure SL clubs will want another French team in SL if they can do anything about it. York would appear to be in a good position with us making progress too.
I always thought that the only quick way in would be to replace another SL that went into Administration or worse.

| Wasn't sure which thread to go in. How much central funding do we get for 3rd place in championship? Something like £150k? Slightly more?
The Salford discussion is rumbling on and naturally Bradford has been mentioned...both for historical issues and current ones.
It's just I'm trying to get a handle on the finances at the moment.
So most recent accounts (we were a subtenant) have us at Championship level sponsorship + ticketing + corporate + merchandise + central funding of about £150k = A part-time first team spend of £5-600k? + an academy + other costs and we make a tiny profit.
So, we don't know the impact of taking on the lease on the equation above. But overall negative, unless other income streams are available!
If we were offered a Super league place in the future - the main changes would be central funding of £150k would become £1.5m? Is that what SL clubs get? We could probably boost the first team spent to £1.5m with that, with some left over for additional costs.
Have we actually succeeded in cutting our cloth and becoming lean, with no excessive expenditure?

| We have 800k of liabilities but provided that's not all owed to anyone that wants paying immediately it's no cause for alarm.

| Central funding is now dished out on IMG gradings.
So Barrow who avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth will get a more than Widnes who slugged it out on the play-offs.
