Chuffed that he's signed up.'"
He also made some crucial and very well executed tackles in the second half. At least 2 or 3 important "ball and all" tackles when Swinton had an overlap on that side, which if he hadn't made them, it would have been a sure fire try. That overlap of course having been created by Kurt Haggerty losing his rag.
Ethan scored 12 points, but he also saved between 8 and 18 almost single handedly.
The lad done good.

| Yes I was really impressed with his defence too. It was better than a lot of other wingers I’ve seen play for us in recent years. One particular tackle in the second half when he stopped a 3 man overlap was superb.
He’s shown what he’s capable of now. The challenge is to maintain that and improve on it.
On another note I expect he’ll be at the sponsors quiz night next week, do fellow sponsors have any questions they’d like to put to him or Joe?

| He looks a superb player. By the sounds of it, a lot of it is down to him knuckling down, grafting and trying to improve himself as much as possible.
His defence (Positioning and tackling) is the best i've seen from a winger for sometime and i would include SL players in that too. Get him in open space and not many catch him and he as an amazing ability to beat defenders when one on one, either by beating them for pace on the outside, or producing outstanding footwork to send them the wrong way. A very special talent we have on our hands.

12 tries form 11 appearances - hope he doesn't read this and take his foot off the gas but that is a marginally better rate than Vainikolo...

Beer is the root of all my problems, ironically it solves them too Homer
Simpson that is: |

| I agree I think Ryan is a star of the future, just hope we can hold on to him. Highlight of the game for me was Chisolm turning round on the Swinton 20 line on his way to scoring, to signal (can`t think of a better description) to Swinton and probably the inept referee UP YOURS. Actually surprised the referee did not disallow the try for some infringement like using foul hands.

| The young lad Ryan has barely put a foot wrong all season. Never seen him get put on his back either, in addition to all the superlatives above.

I personally didn't like that. But it's because I'm not keen on people being a bit of an idiot, and that's what that came across as.
However numerous times people have said that your best halves in the world often have a little bit of that d*ckhead in them. Numerous examples can be listed and have been on here before. So if he needs to be a bit of that in order to be a better player, then I'll take it.

I've seen games against Swinton twice now this season, and I hope I never have to watch them again - grubby, niggly, and downright dirty. Our indiscipline almost cost us, but you can hardly blame people for taking a swing when there's endless provocation and the ref only seems to see what he wants to see.
Again though, some strange selections. Why exactly was Howarth playing instead of Lumb, and Ferguson in place of Bentley? For goodness sake, we've already guaranteed top spot in the Shield - it was a DEAD rubber!!! Why didn't we have 3 or 4 of the Academy graduates mixed into the 17 for today?'"
Laughable...you want to watch your own video of Haggerty getting sent off..first he puts a knee in and then a clear head butt and then there was the ludicrous head high tackle late in the second half but hey I doubt you think any of this makes the Bulls grubby, niggly and downright dirty. Rose tinted glasses spring to mind.

| I don't think anyone's condoned what Haggerty did. Clark's high shot late on was a lazy effort done without any intent.
The Bulls fell into the trap of being put off their game by niggly tactics. Shame Swinton have this side to their game as they're capable of playing rugby when they forget about the niggle.

My first thought, was did he [ireally[/i do that, and my second was I hope the ref doesn't disallow the try and give a penalty for 'ungentlemanly conduct'. That said, there was plenty of conduct in the game which couldn't even remotely be regarded as 'gentlemanly', which was totally ignored by the official, and only a minority came from the Bulls.
In my more thoughtful modes I tend to agree with your first assessment, but I think I also have a sneaky admiration for the spunky attitude. Especially against grubby teams like Swinton...

To be honest i enjoyed. Don't get me wrong i don't want him doing it all the time and being disrespectful like if we were 80-0 up.. But Chisholm had some treatment dished out to him, including a nasty charge to his lower back when he was held up where he bent over backwards, lost count Swinton held us up for a 4th man to come charging in with a swinging arm to a held up prone player.
I'm absolutely fed up of us being bullied by opposition. His great to see us fighting fire with fire. To me it showed he cared it really meant something to score that try against them. More of the same please.
