What's the opposite to "up and coming"??

It's difficult to assess which players we might be interested in now without knowing what the coach's plan is for the future make-up of his team and the budgets at his disposal 2014, 2015 & 2016.

There is clearly not the funds in 2014 (Sky money restricted) to buy in margue players so our aspirations for that year must realistically be restricted. Perhaps again to a top 8 spot.

The importance of the 2014 season will be - have we stood still or are we building for success in 2015/6 where full funding will be available.

Perhaps if in 2015 we have retained our existing young players with an other year of experience to their credit then the addition of 2 marque players and a couple of decent ooc signings it might put us into a top 4 contention.

I'm still in disbelief that we are letting Carvell go???

He's been great for us, and with Cooper, Morley, Glenn Riley all leaving and rumours of Paul Wood going to Wigan i can't see why they are letting him go? He's currently one of if not thee best prop we have.
He was OOC at the end of the year and the only things i can think of are either he's getting a longer deal with you guys or Tony Smith/Moran are shifting his wage for something big.

We are going to have a lot of cap space next season, and a hell of a lot lighter pack.

I can't believe yor getting rid of him. 32 isn't over the hill for a prop. On the OOC list, Carvells name stood out for me. Can't believe he's coming to us. Surprised you guys are getting rid when your also getting rid of some other experienced players.

If you look at the OOC list, there's not too much quality and with the NRl cap the way it is, can't see too may players coming over here.

He's been great, you genuinely have a really good signing in my eyes.

It's probably the same sort of reason that we let Paul Anderson go to Saints a few years back. We were in a similar position to you guys now and Ando was just the player the club thought was replaceable - maybe to pay a bit more for some younger players who were expecting a rise, maybe for other cap reasons, though history tells he wasn't anywhere near 'over the hill' after he left...

If we do end up signing him, I hope he undergoes a proper medical before we close the deal this time *cough* Evans *cough*

yeah, as said above, its pretty upsetting that we're letting him go, i can't really fault him during his time here, and going back to 09, one of my favorite recent wire memories, is him and moz charging us up the field to set up the win against KR in the challenge Cup, they effing smashed the crap out of them in one set of six.

Even though Cummins wants to keep Evans, I've got the feeling that he'll be returning to Warrington and will make a go of it in their pack next year. He's definitely one to watch in coming years.

I quite like what I've seen of Evans, though whether prop will be his final position is hard to tell, and to be honest, of the two Wire loanees, if there were to come down to a choice I 'd go for Matty Blythe, especially with Lulia apparently leaving. I guess much depends on who else is in the pipeline and where FC thinks is the best place to spend what we have. Again though, that commodity which some, if we are to assume they aren't just being silly for the sake of it, apparently believe isn't important - money- will be very much in evidence behind most of these decisions.

I think yet again [for the million and first? time] it has to be stressed that OK, wealthy as he is by my standards, is certainly no Dr. Koucash and certainly can't make up for the loss of the TV money which we will forfeit yet again next year. That said, I think the extra being put into coaching and conditioning for next season is very welcome and maybe with a slightly more balanced squad, maybe an extra prop or two and a second row fewer we may be a little better equipped to make a go of it. Carvell is a very good start imo.
