It's Alex Simmons, the DJ from the Rugby League radio show Rugby AM. They have players on as guests every time the show is on, I think it must be getting quite popular as they recently recorded their first tv version of the show.

It's just a bit of banter really, not taking things too seriously and just having a laugh where he can. As evidenced by that obstacle course race at half time and his attempt to 'tackle' the guy who was winning!

He is very annoying. The only positive is that I can't make out a word he is saying.

If I'm honest it sounds like they've handed the mike to some guy in the pub. The people around me seem to find him a bit embarrassing.

Never thought I'd say it but if anyone feels like getting a, 'Bring back Steve Long' petition started and needs a seconder, I'm your man.

Ditto, it's like a fan is doing it or something out of Pheonix Nights. The atmosphere yesterday should have spoken for itself.

I can take or leave the pre-match/half-time wittering (at the moment, very much in the leave camp), but "banter" from the PA during the match is disrespectful to the teams slogging their guts out on the pitch IMO.

It's very similar to the match announcers at some lower league clubs, so at least we are prepearing in some aspects

The guy's got verbal diarrhoea. Mind there was a lad on The Pulse this morning who was equally dreadful. Must be a new trend with radio people.

Having to work in the wastelands of stupid accents that is Lancae, I listen to the Pulse most days online and today was the first day they'd essentially swapped the breakfast show with the show after. The lad is a bit annoying but I actually enjoyed the first show today with the new lass, the previous chap was fine - who is on from 10am - but this was a bit more fun.

As for the Bulls announcer, he is an embarrassment.

And Italians?

The way he gabbles at 300 words a minute it's impossible to discern more than one word in three - the way it echoes around the Odsal bowl he may as well have been reciting greek poetry for what it mattered.

Malcolm Lane from a few years back was my favourite; clear, in English, at a proper speed and he said only what was necessary - like the team line-ups....not sure if we had subs to announce back then. Probably not
