| Yeah maybe your right davey not really watched Gaskell to comment on his ability over Sammut, but competition for spots are always better for the team guess we'll
have to wait and see I hope he stays

| Nobody should be guaranteed a starting spot in our squad and hopefully in 2014 we will have enough numbers to make sure that happens. I'd like to see Sammut stay at the club because he does bring some excitement when he is on form but equally he can leave me pulling my hair out when he comes up when a ridiculous play when we least need it.

| When Sammut is on form he is one of the best in the league when if he has an off day he can be a major liability, but i cant see gaskell outing him from number 1 spot though.
Well if we keep Addy we will have plenty of cover for 6/7 with Gale, Sammut, Kearney, Gaskell and Addy. Gaskell would just slot into Centre if and when he is need i would think.

| From what I've heard it's Nobby that has told him Gaskell will be first choice, probably to unsettle him. According to another 'Lancashire' player Cummins has not told Gaskell anything of the sort, just that he will be in the squad along with everyone else.

| This is probably all down to Nobby trying to spend the money he is being given. He may be going around unsettling players that he wants. Nobody has a god given right for a guaranteed starting spot ina team. You are only as good as your last game and Sammut has been fairly poor. He is brilliant at times but he is poor more times than brilliant. This is a tricky one. Do we keep someone who is hot and cold or do we try and find someone who is consistently good. I like it when Sammut comes off the bench but he can be awfully frustrating and is a maveric rather than a team leader. Tough decision for Franny if Nobby is trying to tempt him away.

| the thing is though obviously Nobby knows he's a maverick, like we all do, and probably much better than most. Nobby is a great coach and if he really is after Sammut then that means Nobby doesn't mind signing the maverick that is Sammut, and can't within reason think of anyone better. Is that someone we should be losing? Wysiwyg with Sammut, I personally think during the time he has been here the brilliant and unbelievable things he has done more than compensate for his bad days. Personally I'd much rather have that than a dull but steady alternative.
There was much talk last year and before of Leon Pryce coming back. WTF does he do for most of the time? Sammut has at least 10 flashes of brilliance for every 1 of Leon's, yet many were keen to see Leon back. Don't get me wrong, at the right money I would be in favour of signing Leon if he was available and if we had a vacancy, but would say Sammut offers much more.

| I'm not one for jinxes, it's interesting to note Sammut has 16 tries for the SL season (Kearney has 15). 18 tries would make either of them the highest Bulls try scorer since Vainikolo in 2005 with 25.
(2006; Hape, 17. 2007; Vainikolo, 16. 2008; Tadulala, 17. 2009; Tadulala, 13. 2010; Kearney, 11. 2011; Royston, 10. 2012; Kearney, 15.)

Signs for Bradford? He doesn't need to sign anything to stay here, his current contract runs to the end of 2014.

| TBH Sammut has won us plenty of games this season. Yes, he can blow hot and cold, but then so do many flair players.
As the old saying goes, form is temporary, class is forever.
I'm not sure he'd be playing 2nd fiddle to Lee Gaskell, but I can see FC continuing to use him as an impact player from the bench because I think he can be more effective in that role, coming on to exploit tiring defences.

My only gripe with that over the last three out of four games is I thought it left our bench light; with Sammut, hooker, prop and second row forward. (names obviously change but positions are constant)
I don't think we can do that next year to be honest.

Correct you don't need Sammut and a hooker on the bench one ot the other it has to be.

I agree, we can't be using a bench spot for a backup half. I suppose the only way we could do it would be to start Addy in the halves and shift him into either LF or SR and then bring Sammut on.
I hope he stays, he tweeted a picture of Dave Parker's gossip column last night that mentioned both Leeds and Salford chasing his signature. To me that came across as him taking the p!ss out of the whole situation, I hope it's all just hot air and he's still here next season.
Yes he's had a few poor games but what halfback hasn't? There honestly aren't that many better 6's in the league atm.

Sammut 7 Gaskell 6, Addy bench spot Gale carrying the water problem solved.

| Heard from a usually spot-on source - Sammut had a bust up with FC a few weeks ago. Reason? - Gaskell will be coming in as first choice SO and Sammut will be that impact player off the bench. Sammut regards himself as the primary SO at the club and made his feelings known. FC had to remind him who the boss is and apparently Sammut sulked big style.
Might explain why, after the Dragons game, FC said he wasn't sure where Sammut's head is.
