The same Briggs that put one out on the full and missed touch by a mile from a penalty?

That's the bloke. I can forgive a guy who some doubted could make the step up from a championship side a few errors when playing in his first SL game in a tight Leeds v Bradford game in front of 30,000 people. Especially if he can nail the same kicking game he had for Fev all last year and for us in pre-season.

| Well not bothered about Status on here. But at least someone has a bit of sense. Agree with your points on Briggs.

Then it is hardly the massive miss that some people seem to be suggesting then.
Christ, it is Kyle Briggs we are missing, not Benji Marshall!

And all I've said is that Kearney doesn't have the kicking game of either Briggs or Herbert. Why the histrionics?

There is no histrionics at all. It is just that some people seem to be accepting defeat on the back of an injury to a lad who, and I quote......
Quote: vbfg "some doubted could make the step up from a championship side '"
and it is being a bit OTT.
I ain't slating the kid but to suggest that him missing may be the difference between a win and a heavy loss is plain stupid.

| Quote: Bulls1989 "Terrance singer while i admire you confidence you cant blame some fans for feeling a bit angry at the situation. Briggs was said to be just lacking fitness and then next minute hes out for 4-6 weeks??? The fans feel like they have been kept in the dark about it. However we have to look on now and see how gud the depth of the team is. Lets get behind the lads on sunday and not be all negative. Whats thoughts on team lads? Starting 13?'"
Angry? Why should the fans feel angry about the club not releasing the information? I'd rather the coaching staff kept us in the dark if it means not revealing all to the opposition at the start of each week.
Losing Briggs and Herbert is a blow, but it gives someone like Addy a chance who I rate fairly highly. I just hope they play him in his best position at 13. If 1-17 put in their best efforts on Sun then we'll still cause Wigan some problems.

Him on his own? Maybe not. Having no half backs compared to two? I think I can see how it might be a factor.
(I haven't suggested a heavy loss either FWIW)
I see your point, and I'm not unremittingly pessimistic about Sunday, but I don't think it's unduly pessimistic to change your expectations from happy with a win to being happy to compete.
I think I preferred you as a dour miserablist.

| This is another example of the lack of cover we still have in the halves! maybe we should have moved for Obst or seen as Wakefield are offloading other players even bring Jeffries back for a season?
Would have been a decent stop-gap until Pryce becomes available. IMO

maybe we should have signed both obst as cover for briggs and herbert.
Oh and we'd better sign jeffries as cover for obst and while were at it lets get pryce as cover for jeffries.
How far do you go in terms of signing players for cover? We dont really have an issue at standoff. we still have decent options there even with both briggs and herbert out. The bigger problem is scrum half where both are 1st choice (herbert) and 1st choice backup (briggs) are unfortunately injured at the same time. But we still have options we can play so it isnt the end of the world some are making out.

| I'd have thought that given the injuries that Southernwood would have made it into the squad at least. I know what Potter said about him needing to put some weight on but even so it would allow us to get another kicker of the ball on the field which would give us much needed options when we got to the 4th or 5th. I hope Kearney is well protected on Sunday.

I'm surprised he's been left out too.

We have Addy too, so it won't be all on Kearney's shoulders.
