That's what I'm getting at. You don't and shouldn't want a quick fix.

| You are such a worry wort (or is it wart) Bullseye. We just need to drop down a division and rebuild using the tuppence we found down the back of the settee to bank roll our structures. Then straight back up and into the final of the world club challenge.

I disagree, staying in SL this year would be a massive quick fix.
Next year we would have record Sky income, and a roster that must be running at about 50% (or even less) of the salary cap.
If we can survive this year, we will have pretty decent foundations to build again.
Dropping down a division would be a different proposition.

| Quote: moggie "We started from nothing with no recent success or foundations in place where as you have certain structures and foundations already set up plus a very good fan base. It seems from the outside all Bradford are interested in is a strong team on the pitch and to hell with anything else and that relegation would be the end of the world. You don't need millions to do all this or a sugar daddy type person to sort your club out just someone or a group who have the sole intention in building the club up without the sole intention of being a top club at this present time and being in it for the long haul.'"
What you are basically doing is making some pious proposal for someone- anyone - in Bradford to start from scratch with some mythical new little organisation without two halfpennies to rub together, and to "build it up" in "the long haul".
And to do this we don't need a sugar daddy type person, just some bloke who, while skint, his heart is in it and is full of "good intentions".
This skint person will nevertheless somehow take on and finance the entire Bulls setup up to academy level, and the very good fan base will forget the Bulls and will all flock to this shoestring outfit. Despite not actually having a team, nor being able to afford one.
Can I ask - if there is such a person, what is the reason they never did any of the above with - say - Dudley Hill, or West Bowling, or some such?

Davy provided you lot with a quick fix and it took 18 years to get where you are now.
Without Davy's millions I reckon you'd still be at Arena 84 playing as the Barracudas.
Going down would mean we'd have to start from scratch. Without a backer I can't see how we'd be able to afford an academy. We'd not be able to afford to play at Odsal. Why would sponsors want to put their money into such a tinpot operation? They've not exactly been pumping in the millions when we were good.

| Spending lots on the academy is maybe a bit of a luxury.
For a club like Bradford, where the club is being continually outbid for the graduates of its own academy by other clubs, often right at the point where they are about to become first team squad members and with no benefit to the Bulls, it is maybe a too high a price to pay?

| Once you stop having an academy you're basically admitting you're a second tier club IMO.
I'm happy with supporting a Bradford team in the 2nd or 3rd tier. I just don't see where they would play. It seems to be between either Odsal (too expensive) and VP (prob also too expensive and unlikely to attract fans from club's traditional areas).

Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| Our academy was assessed as one of the top 3 or 4 in terms of infrastructure & coaching structure & welfare etc.
It's one of our success stories of recent times.
The only reason players have been leaving recently is the rest of the clubs finances.

When Davy took over we were playing at the new stadium so you're wrong on that.

Just that part eh?
With the best will in the world without Davy at best Hudders be like Leigh. A second tier club playing in a decent stadium.

Possibly but we're not, we are a well run SL club who now has started to challenge for honours. I'd say a quick fix over 18 years isn't a quick fix. We've come from the 2nd division, got relegated, won promotion again then year on year improved our playing staff, academy and on field performances.
You've already got an academy so no real outlay is needed and if you were to go down going off the players you've brought through in the past fast track them through to the first team instead of relying on established high earners. Don't know too much about the rental agreement with the RFL over Odsal but I can't see them pricing you out of playing there.

| OK can we finally rule out VP as the playing surface is not long enough. Similarly any bid from the owners of City would mean the Bulls will still be playing at Odsal. And by the way the playing surface at VP is not big enough. We got special dispensation to move to VP short term while tests were done at Odsal regarding the proposed development. It was only allowed short term because the playing surface is not big enough.

| Don't know if I mentioned it but the pitch at VP is too small. Thought I'd better add that.

Strange when I lived in Birkenshaw I paid my council tax to Bradford council but i bow to your knowledge. As rugby clubs Birky play in the Bradford cup Drig don't.

I hear ya, so moving to VP would be viable then. Good news.
