Can't see how there would be no club, there were potential buyers before, so there would be again.
Although I could not understand how the RFL could choose and control the administrator.

| I suspect, given recent history, if the worst were to come to the worst, "serious" 'new buyers', might be in short supply.
Would someone, take over? Well you can never say never, so I guess yes, someone probably would, but you can only do this so many times before no-one takes anything seriously.
In my view, if anything were to go disastrously wrong with the finances of the current owners inside four or five years, then we can say goodbye to the whole Bulls / Northern episode, certainly as a professional club.

There was an interview with Marc Green the other week that explained that the club changed over credit card machine providers in order to save money as the old company were charging an arm and a leg. Unfortunately, the new company weren't quite as advertised and led to a few problems with being able to take card payments.

Thanks for the suggestion but its highly unlikely that this Leyther would be purchasing something from the Bulls (unless it was a match ticket) . A change in the Bulls company name would possibly have suggested something was going on. I would hate it to happen to you again as we can ill afford to lose any clubs from our great game. I was not trying to stir anything up either.
I know the Credit Card issues have been explained on here, but just before this came out about HMRC their was a very visible appeal from your hierarchy stating you needed a massive rise in ST holders to stay financially viable. Yes I know I am probably putting 2+2 together and getting 5

That was sorted nearly two weeks ago though. I paid for my season ticket in the shop, a week last Monday, and it was already working then. The card thing was done and dusted before the listing in the gazette came up.

To be honest, I don't remember it ever being couched in terms quite like that.
The management have said all along that the club will be run as a business, ie will live within its means. That suggests to me that if insufficient tickets are sold to live life in the fast lane, then recruitment will drop to a commensurate level or cuts will be made - after all, the club can be "financially viable", on many different levels. That level not being to everyone's satisfaction isn't the same as being 'unviable'. I think the vast majority of fans are fully aware of this position as it's been said many times, both in the press and at forums.

| I don't disagree, but I do feel that in our particular case, dropping to a "financially viable" level which equated to dropping down a level or two from our present level, just isn't going to work, and so is pointless, except for those with the stomach and patience to basically "start over" from Horsfall playing fields or something. My point is I do feel the law of slippery slopes applies here. To illustrate, if we are on Level 2 now, but "cut our cloth" to drop to Level 3 (whatever that is - maybe Championship top-8 standard) then the further income drop that would cause would not be enough to pay for a Level 3 side.
It is wrong to assume that you can maintain anything like the current level of income and interest if you give up on trying to be the big dog in this league. You simply can't.

| One of the indisputable laws of RL. As the team goes downhill so do the attendances and income and therefore so does the team and that downward spiral continues until someone has the cash to stop it. There is only one club that makes money in British RL.
If we're to climb back into the elite we need a Ken Davy type character. We said this back in 2012-14. While Green might be able to temporarily stop the rot it's not a long term solution - the club needs other people to come on board as partners or for some benevolent multi millionaire to come along like Davy.
I really do think 2016 is make or break. We need the central distribution and sponsorship gained by going up. If we don't go up I can see us continuing the downward spiral unless we bring in new backers.

| In fairness, I do feel we can 'drop back' quite a way and still be a force in this league. I do agree that if that [iwere[/i to occur, quite a number would decide to give up or go elsewhere, but the city is more than large enough, in my opinion, to easily keep up to a medium level club in this league - take a look at the competition, it hardly fills anyone with dread does it?, so any talk of dropping down to div 3 is way off line. Even if we dropped to 2k fans or so, it's still in line with the championship average support levels.
I've said it so many times that I'm fed up of saying it, but I don't believe there is a way back under the current set-up. When the the RFL comes to its senses and brings in a proper way to give promotion [straight P&R or an improved licensing] then I agree with Bullseye - there isn't enough money in RL, so to compete at a higher level, we would need the same kind of owner that so many other clubs have, and that means we need a 'Sugar Daddy' type who will finance for its own sake rather than look to 'run a business'. Can't see one though.

Possibly true several years ago. But with the increased central funding now, any team with about 8k average gate or better should be break even or make a profit. If they are a team with a low maintenance, newer stadium, designed for the corporate £, then they should have no excuses.
We were doubly unlucky in that we imploded in the year of renewed relegation, and the year before a big increase in funding kicked in.
I do note you said British RL -as Catalans are raking in 5-6million euros of sponsorship and local government grants a year, in addition to the £1.8m of TV money.

| I think the main thing that needs to be considered is that our expenses with regards to the stadium are far bigger than any club in the division. It would be interesting to see if we even broke even this season.

| Interesting that green is tweeting we've sold more season tickets than at same point last year. With issues with card machines, winding up order and ferres' articles thought we'd be well down on numbers.

I'm not necessarily surprised. Although there was some 'backs against the wall' drive and optimism this time last year, we'd been relegated following years of progressive decay. This time round we've had a moderately successful season, and some things to feel broadly positive about for the first time in a long long while. However, it might just be nothing but spin. At this point, who can say?

Interesting observations from Robbie
"One of the problems we have in sports administration is that sport is emotional," he said.
"It's not a retail item, it's something that makes up the spiritual fabric of your surroundings, your community and culture.
"Sometimes sports administrators get drowned in the emotion and forget what the objectives of the business are."
