| Quote rugbyreddog="rugbyreddog"Unfortunately, being able to impress Jimmy seems to have no bearing on the amount of talent a player has.'"
Whether that's true or not, the main point wasn't that Jimmy didn't pick the best player for the job, but that some players, with perfectly acceptable youtube videos, never even got a shot on the field after seeing them on the training paddock. Or, to put it another way, these days, virtually anyone, with a modicum of effort, could string together a show for youtube.
To be blunt, judging new players by youtube isn't a good idea, and our new policy should be that, if our new half can't look as good as an Aussie superstar for 2 minutes of video, then maybe we should pass?

| Quote HamsterChops="HamsterChops"It's all very odd with Huddersfield's team selection. They played Brierley at fullback, who's a natural 7. They played Connor at 7, who's a natural centre. Then they played Aaron Murphy at centre, who's a perfectly good fullback.
Perhaps suggests they see Brierley as a long term fullback and are playing him there now so that when Ellis is back, they both play in those positions.'"
Do you really think Brierley is a seven? If he was in my team I'd have him at 6 or at 1 like Huddersfield are doing. Get him on the shoulders of the front runners, looking for the half breaks and offloads. He's basically Danny McGuire from ten years ago.

I don't disagree with that. But despite McGuire's shirt number, he's been playing 7 for Leeds for a long long time, with Sinfield as his 6.
6 and 7 aren't as different as they once were. It's not so much about first receiver and second receiver nowadays, most teams have one playing each side and not playing all that differently.
But yes, in essence I agree that Brierley is an excellent support players and runner without being the "organising" kind of half back. And I don't disagree he makes a good fullback in the same way Jake Mullaney did for us.
In conclusion, I kind of agree haha.

| Brierley is nowhere near as good as Maguire was ten years ago. I don't ever see him reaching the same calibre ever.

I don't think anyone is necessarily saying he is as good. Just that he's the same type of player.

| It seems [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/36033267Ryan McGoldrick[/url is on the lookout for a club. He played a bit of 6 for Cas & Salford didn't he?
I may not be being entirely serious suggesting him at his age, but he's potentially a better short term option than what we currently have.

PLEASE GOD KNOW! We've already brought one player out of retirement and look how well that turned out.

| He could probably do a job at championship level TBF. Not sure what his fitness levels would be like at 35 and not playing recently.
Pretty certain Ferres 'stepping up his efforts' won't include checking eBay though

If he's on eBay then I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign for Sheffield

| Interesting article in T&A. O'brien wanting to stay. Dan Fleming looking like signing for new Canada side. Sounds like Addy & Clark could be playing SL next year. Clark will be a huge loss.
