Sorry to be a Smartárse but Leigh Genesis (formerly RMI) only play the odd fixture at the LSV due to cost, And probably wont be there much longer...

| I used to support both City and Northern till I got married and had to choose one or the other, I chose Northern as soccer had become boring with more back passes pervading the game each season till the total negativity of passing to keepers or full backs from inside the opposition half forced me to turn my back on the "beautiful game" I made the right choice with RL. Soccer is now so boring I can't even watch a full match. I either fall asleep or my brain starts to wander. However I always look for City's score when I see the results and will always have a fondness for them. I have always thought Odsal the better venue for team sports and hoped that BC would move to Odsal after that awful day, v Lincoln City. but passions ran high and a new stadium was built not by what was best for the two professional teams but by sentiment. Should BC stay at VP then a possible sharing scheme with BPA could then be a idea as they share a common early history.

| CBA reading all posts. I've said for years that both Odsal and VP have great sentimentality for each respective clubs and fans.
So build a new stadium slap bang in the centre of Bradford where the supposed Westfield site is going to be!! Get St. Ives to produce a pitch that caters for both football and RL.

Most City fans know full well that going into administration was entirely the fault of the powers that be at the club at the time, of course it is laughable to think of City owning their own stadium, after all they did up until a few years ago
In terms of being bailed out then yes, City do have a right to feel hard done by compared to the support given to the RL club by the council however they have a long way to go to get anywhere near to the level of whining that comes from the Bulls faithful, who seem to think the council should exist only to chuck money at them.
My long held view is that local authorities should have no big financial commitments to professional sports clubs but, if they are to, then they should be at least treated on an equal basis.

| I dont think the two sports are mutually exclusive to supporters and that some comments about "hating" each other are truly unrepresentative, There are many supporters who visit both grounds and a lot more who have an interest in the results and wellbeing of the other.
They should not think they are fighting each other for bums on seats as this is not true. Rather both clubs might look at promoting a form of joint supporter membership, community involvement and financial symbiosis.
The economic challenges to sport in Bradford will get a hell of a lot worse in the coming years for both clubs.
Clearly there are no Angels to fund either club and not likely to be now.
I suspect that little progress wiill be made until both clubs are in dire straights, by which time it could be too late.

At the end of the day the council, and the city, gains nothing by having a successful RL team, our three times world champions would probably get plenty of blank expressions if the name was put to someone as close as Sheffield. It's time Bradford Council sacked off any sort of link to the Bulls (most of the fans aren't from Bradford anyway), forgot about any silly sporting village where they would be main beneficiaries, and start giving some financial support to the team playing football, success in which could put Bradford on the sporting map.'"
Sorry Asim but that just ain`t so. Soccer is the biggest sport in England but all the publicity is generated by, and is about the premier division. Even more it`s really only the top six or eight of that division that counts for anything so far as national newspapers or network TV (apart from the dedicated sports channels of course) are concerned.
I`m writing as a Bulls` fan who hopes the other clubs in the city do well and always looks out for city`s result if I haven`t followed the game on local radio, but I`m wasting my time trying to find any report of lower league games in my usual papers `cos there aren`t any. It`s hard enough wading through all the premier league rubbish to find city`s result some times. Even mighty(lol) Leeds might as well not exist so far as they are concerned.
Top RL games however do get headlines and match reports weekly. Nowhere near as much a their soccer counterparts obviously, but probably in a similar fashion to the Premier league, that is to say the top half dozen clubs are put firmly on the `sporting map` on a weekly basis.
If City are to achieve the same then they need not only to get back to the top flight but to get into the top end of it. I, for one, wish them all the best in that regard but the costs of getting there would probably be enough to finance the whole of the rugby league for a few seasons, so it certainly isn`t going to be easy.
Btw, I thought you were a Bull`s fan Asim? You know, moderator on RLFans and all that?

I have never been a Bulls fan, I was a Bradford Northern fan who had my club stolen from me, and it is unnecessary to be a fan to moderate a messageboard, I have tendered my resignation as I have said, it is make your mind up time as far as I am concerned, however the network is desperate to keep its top people on board, however I shall not be swayed.
The Bulls peaked over the last few years, top crowds didn't break 15,000 much and they are hardly in the sporting conciousness of the general man in the street and it certainly didn't bring any great benefit to the city.
Notice how the OSV has been in the planning stages for a long time and the only time it has made any sort of national media is once City's name gets attached to it? That says it all.

| Speaking honestly here and I am only one person and one that does not have money falling out of my booty but is not a Football fan simply because I get bored watching but that is me and my choice. We save as a family to be able to get the best deal which is a season ticket to watch the Bulls as we have done for a lot of years now.
Up until reading some of the posts on this thread I honestly thought yes, if it helps both City and the Bulls have not only a stadium fit for purpose but all the associated training facilities and corporate bits and pieces needed these days then fair do's, a joint stadium with both the Bulls and City having equal rights and with nobody feeling a lodger would be a good thing for Sport in this City.
However having read the thread I would like to just add my twopenneth for what it is worth
I've even spoken to a number of City fans that used to be Bulls fans but have taken advantage of the Season Ticket prices to watch Football instead, if you enjoy watching Football then so be it I have no problem in fact I'd say got for it. It seems that these same people, in the interest of their own Club, would have no problem with a move to a new Stadium in the City with equal rights and a possible deal which might mean they could watch both Rugby League and Football, who knows what kind of deals could be in the wider scheme of things.
What I do have an issue with is Football fans here whon also say they are Rugby League fans on what is a Rugby League message board for the Bradford Bulls doing exactly what they accuse the Bulls fans of doing, basically whining and complaining about unfair treatment. Odsal however you look at it has never been a fit for purpose stadium for the 21st century under the Council and it was a canny move for the Council to sell it to the the Bulls, it saved them money long term. Despite the money spent on Odsal already it was always going to cost a lot more than 4 million to bring the Stadium up to the standard needed.
Now we have a situation where a lot of outside money and partners has been found and without knowing the full in's and out's it appears a revamp of a lot of badly needed Sports facilities could be built that could secure the future of not only the Bulls but of Football and many other Sports in this City which are neglected at the moment. Surely this would warrant some investment by the local Council with the bulk being picked up by private investors and the Clubs involved and their partners would be a good thing.
To say however that the Bradford Bulls are basicaly second fiddle to the City's Football team is just a bit hard to swallow, as for shirt recognition I've been in Australia and France and funnily enough the Bulls logo has been recognised. What is fact is that Football is a far more money hungry Sport, it needs more money to function and unlike RL their is no salary cap to keep things equal between teams.
I do not hate Football, I do not dislike Football fans I just don't have the interest in watching it personally. That does not mean I will vilify another Sport and there are more Sports at stake here than just RL and Football. That is the important thing and not the running down of one Sport over another which has been a little bit of a feature on this thread
These as I said are my thoughts and no doubt some flak will follow this as it has others but we are are entitled to our opinions and on this forum its from a Rugby League fans perspective.

Asim, sorry but you were a Bradford Northern Fan but your not a Bulls Fan, it would explain a few things but would you like to explain how Northern was stolen from you. It might help us understand the situation a bit as some of us are struggling?

I`m puzzled by that too. I was a Northern fan for many years before the Bulls but I can`t see how I`ve been robbed of anything. in truth the ups and downs of the last few years have been an exciting roller coaster ride which I`ve enjoyed immensely.
I can go back to being a child watching Trevor Foster and Joe Phillips, through the resurrection to Terry Price and Sir Keith Mumby, Tommy Smales, Ellery Hanley, Jeff Grayshon et al. I see no real difference ( I know the game has changed, oh how it`s changed but it changed long before the Bulls too); Bulls is just another name for Northern, Super League is just the first division; vive la difference!
I remember the thrill of seeing a young Keith Mumby (before he was knighted ) and knowing he was going to be a really great player; it`s exactly the same watching Sam Burgess today knowing that he too will grace the game as one of its greatest exponents.
It`s disappointing to know that someone feels disenchanted , for some reason, by some aspect of the game, because personally, far from being robbed, Northern and Bulls and the game of rugby league have given me far more than I can ever repay.
