Quote: MicktheGled "What initial press release was this?

The one which we put out last night (embargoed till 9.30am) clearly stated the agreement between ourselves and Castleford - player loan swap deal involving Reiss Butterworth and James Green.

The T&A had initially reported the story wrong, so a quick phonecall changed that mistake.

Good move all around with both players returning to their parent clubs at the end of the season.

To quote Andrew Chalmers yeserday

I stand corrected, it wasn't a press release from Bradford. However tweets and articles like this rlhttps://twitter.com/M_Shaw1/status/1016415047424315392rl as well as the article in the T&A which state that Reiss has signed for Cas, with no mention of a loan deal (apart from Green coming the other way ON LOAN) don't inspire confidence in fans who have seen their best young players leave for rivals for years.

Lets face it, if it had been initially announced that both moves were loans until the end of the season many pages of this thread wouldn't exist. Right?

Anyway, I'm glad thanks for clearing this up Mick, and now we can look forward to Reiss being an integral part of our club for years to come.

No worries, obviously the T&A had two pieces of the four piece jigsaw.

Reiss Butterworth still has 28 months to run on his Bradford contract.

Quote: Bull Mania "Played very well in a struggling Batley team too. As Zapper said, if he does leave, it would be out loss, big time. It would be on par with watching Cameron Scott, Jake Trueman etc ply their trade at their respected clubs.

Only way i could see Cas taking him on loan, and him coming back to us, is maybe they want to trial him before purchasing him as a replacement for Milner. But i'll be very surprised if we see him in a Bulls shirt Don't forget he's under contract until the end of 2020.

I'm not saying that is the 'be all and end all' of the situation, but letting him go to Cas, just like to Batley, does show the the Bulls are open to anything which will hopefully benefit his career. If he turns on the sort of performances which make Cas want to keep him then maybe we'll be open to offers, because, as we all know, you can't make anyone come back who doesn't want to, other than in a purely legalistic way.

Or he may have a clause in there should a Super League / Full Time club come calling.

Exactly, contracts mean nothing in the lower leagues. Hell they barely mean anything even in SL.

Or maybe clearing the deck for an out of favour Leeds player?

If it’s Dwyer as rumoured on Twitter that would be pretty disappointing (and unnecessary)

Well put it this way, he's not out of favour for rugby reasons.

I'd don't know if he's headed our way or not but if he is then JK
Has a bit of work on his hands to straighten him out

Isn't this just a case of a young lad not getting a game for us as he is 4th choice and sending him out for much needed experience. We get a big prop who will get game time and I think we do need a new face up front.
There is a lot of guessing now going on and conspiracies. He is our player for another few years and when he comes back from his loan we will hopefully be in the championship and signing better players so things may look better for him. I don't see him getting many games at Cas as they strive to win the league. Will they really put him in ahead of what they already have.
Kear will only keep him if he rates him which is what we all must remember. I we rate Kear highly then we must also trust him and his judgement. Reiss will only leave if Kear wants him to - so I am not worrying too much about it as we have bigger fish to catch in the next couple of months.

With a season from Flanagan on 2019 what's on the radar for 2020 and is it better than Butterworth? I can't see us doing anything other than consolidating a Ch place next year if we are promoted?

Maybe Kear is looking longer term than we are?'"

Young hooker called Cameron Berry. Joe Berrys lad. Looks quite exciting on the limited times ive seen him

As it's a loan until the end of the season, I'd imagine that it's possibly with a view to making a permanent move for him after seeing him up close in training.

It would be a shame to again lose another of our home grown players, but as others have said, it's a short career and if he's got the chance to play full time in SL it would be churlish to stand in his way. Assuming that Cas provide some level of compensation for signing him (which I think they have to by law, but it's unlike to be a high fee)

It's funny though that contracts seemed rather important when we signed Iestyn Harris?

I mean, I know what you're saying, which is basically that we can't hold on to any player who doens't want to be here and I totally agree. But, I'd assume the contract, even with the famous SL get out clause, would usually give some kind of right to compensation to the 'losing' club, even if it has to ruled on by some arbitration committee. We were very quick, for instance, to offer a contract to the younger Trueman brother when elder brother Jake chose to go to Cas.

Yes there will always be compensation involved, but it won't be much.
But when people start quoting how many months a player still has left to run on a contract, that is when they essentially become worthless. As soon as a SL club decides to make a move, he could have 100 months left to run and it won't mean anything.

Get the unnecessary comment but he would score a tremendous amount of tries at this level. Scored 6 for fev game before last
