Were they any worse than you were against Cats? I find it hard to believe, yet you managed to turn it around within a week. I am enjoying the Wakey board though.

That is one of the interesting side effects of the points deduction for the SL, it could well mean that a side with a worse team, a worse ground, and fewer supporters gets to stay up?
What we need is a few more of the "never say die performances" we put in against Wire in a handful of the games we aren't expected to win to put the pressure on Wakey and Salford - the two teams we still have a chance of overhauling

My take on it is that we aren't actually [ithat[/i bad, but for some inexplicable reason, we frequently play as if we are. Whereas Wakey [iare[/i that bad, but have on odd occasions played above themselves to scrape unfeasible wins.

We were several orders worse against Catalans and on other occasions, than Wakey were on Sunday.

I guess all fans tend to look at their own team first and consider [ithe best[/i performances as "how good they [ireally[/i are" and all the other, somewhat less convincing, shows as just aberrations from this nebulous 'norm' which doesn't really exist. Using that principle, I suppose we think we are much better than Wakey and, no doubt, they feel they are much better than us.

To be honest, it depends on how you turn up and play on the day. In all truth we are not in the same class as Warrington but, on the day, we played to our potential and Wire, for whatever reason, dropped way below theirs and we took the points. Listening to interviews of the Wire squad they seem to be suggesting that they 'disrespected' us, well fine, whatever, but it just shows that if you 'turn up to play*' you always have a chance.

* I define 'turn up to play' as being willing to treat each game as cup final - if we want to stay up, points back or not, that is what we need.

What's with the announcer by the way? Very unprofessional and irritating chelping up during the game every 5 minutes, whats that all about?

It's Alex Simmons, the DJ from the Rugby League radio show Rugby AM. They have players on as guests every time the show is on, I think it must be getting quite popular as they recently recorded their first tv version of the show.

It's just a bit of banter really, not taking things too seriously and just having a laugh where he can. As evidenced by that obstacle course race at half time and his attempt to 'tackle' the guy who was winning!

He is very annoying. The only positive is that I can't make out a word he is saying.

If I'm honest it sounds like they've handed the mike to some guy in the pub. The people around me seem to find him a bit embarrassing.

Ditto, it's like a fan is doing it or something out of Pheonix Nights. The atmosphere yesterday should have spoken for itself.

I can take or leave the pre-match/half-time wittering (at the moment, very much in the leave camp), but "banter" from the PA during the match is disrespectful to the teams slogging their guts out on the pitch IMO.

It's very similar to the match announcers at some lower league clubs, so at least we are prepearing in some aspects
