Quote: Ferocious Aardvark "Sorry but that's just not accurate. Everything there is in every shop was designed by someone, with a view to selling as many as possible. I would say if judged purely by sales, the vast majority of designs are either a failure, or a disappointment. The fact that a design comes from Kooga does not at all mean that it can't be poor, or even gash. Also, sports shirts are something of an anomaly, since it is an item that many fans will buy, whatever the state of it, to support their club, even if they don't particularly like it. This much has been evidenced by for example reading this forum over the years. I'v bought Bradford shirts I didn't like, just for those reasons. I also find ludicrous the suggestion that, of all the pro rugby and soccer shirts available every year, produced by the likes of Kooga, the one produced for every individual club is THE absolutely best one it could have been, and will sell more than anything else they could have made. If that is so, why is every other clubs shirt not the same, apart from colour scheme?'"
I'm not sure you can have a 'best', given the subjectivity, unless it's defined by sales, which let's, be honest are more likely to be influenced by how the team is, or is expected to be, doing in the league, rather than actual opinions on the shirt.
Obviously, as you point out, every year [ican't[/i be 'the best' every time, in any case if we ever get this mythical 'best ever' shirt we should stick with it permanently shouldn't we? Well, at least until the designers come up with an even
better one.....which is likely to be a while if we're talking about replacing the 'best ever'.
Of course, commercial realities come into it, because even if we have a super duper, best ever, unlikely to be bettered, wonder shirt, when everyone has bought it, its days are still numbered because finances dictate we must have shirts for sale which fans want to buy and not another like they've already got. So, chances are, we're going to get a less than perfect one the time after. Still as long as it's wearable (and has the colours in the right order
) I guess it'll be alright.
