And I stand by those comments. Ideally we would retain kearney and add quality in other positions as well. But it wouldnt be the end of the world if he did leave as we have decent options in squad already.

You can't be serious Royston hasn't shown anything at fullback yet.

hasnt put a foot wrong there either though, which considering he's been swapping between FB and SO most games to accomodate kearney, is a pretty good going on its own. We'll see best of royston now he's able to concentrate on playing FB without the mucking about.

I think this probably sums up where we are as a club at the minute (and this isn't intended as a dig at you mat).
Praising a player because he hasn't put a foot wrong rather than focusing on good play or offering something different / extra.
IMO, players should, as standard, not be putting a foot wrong.
I appreciate they're only human, but surely this is the bare minimum?

| Royston is no Billy Slater, but he has been solid and one of our better players this year.

Don't disagree with that. But at same time achieving that standard is an achievement on it's own considering he's stepped up a league and not being allowed to play a settled position. We'll start to see the more eye catching stuff now he can concentrate on one position IMO.

| You cannot fault the player for effort, and I think he would be very good in a better team. Hopefully that will be us before the end of the season, although I am not too optimistic.

Why will we. All he ever was at Halifax was a support player why will that change here seem to be grasping at straws.

No RER you're desperately hoping Royston will fail at SL level. You took against him from start because he came from a lower league and displaced one of your precious u20's. Most less biased people will give credit to Royston but your desperate to prove a point.

No since he arrived in superleague he's been nothing more than steady. Their has been nothing to suggest he will be anything else it's you who has made him out to be some superman.

| Royston is joint top scorer and if it wasn't for him Warrington would have got 70, and Catalan would have beat us.
I aknowledge the fact that he isn't special, he's not world class but he has been one of our best this year

Steady is a big improvement on a lot of our players. I've never made him ou to be a superman so stop putting words in my mouth. He's stepped up and held a spot down which isn't bad going in my book. In a strong team he would be a utility back but we aren't a strong team at the moment.
At end of the day it comes down to personal opinions and I think myself and RER will just have to agree to disagree about shad.

| Brett is better than Shad, I think there is little debate there.
Shad does have some characteristics about his game that are better than Brett's though (such as his tackling and support play) which mean he has been a useful addition to our squad.
If we were to lose Brett (which at the minute I think could happen unless we start to improve) it won't be the end of the world providing we have somebody in mind to fill the quota spot to strengthen elsewhere.

I think he's done OK and I have to agree that simply being 'steady' in a team that is not achieving it's potential is the best we can expect from any of the players.
I thought he was good against Catalans and seemed to be playing in a dual role in earlier games switching between SO and FB.
You also have to take into account that it's going to take time to adapt from playing Championship and SL rugby. Take that into account and compare to how Briggs has settled in... OK, it's not an exact comparison as Briggs has had an injury and has less experience, but I think Royston has made the transition better.
