I think what it also shows is that Potter isn't afraid to make unpopular decisions to get what he wants. Something which IMO is a very good trait for a coach to have.

May not go down well with the fans, but if it works, in the long term, it will be the right choice.

I now wait to see who we've signed for next season because that Qouta Spot has to be taken up by a top player or I'll be incredibly P'ed off!

With the caveat that there are at least two categories of fans, those who will keep their counsel until they know the other side of the equation, and those who knee jerk regardless. For the latter, there IS no "long term". If we do not have success NOW, everyone is a failure.

But Hall has a 3 year contract I believe so can't really be added into the equation unless another club want him and he wants to go or either us or Hall terminate his contract.

I'm hoping he'll have a bigger impact last year. One thing I noticed when he was briefly on during the HKR game was that he was turning in the tackle to get the ball away but nobody was there in support. Whilst his fitness is definately in doubt (maybe he's carrying an injury?), I find it very hard to judge a player individually in a negative way this season as, lets be honest, the team haven't been playing well as a whole.

Unfortunately the quota rules mean that at some point hard decisions are going to have to be made on overseas players. If we have the chance to sign someone who will benefit the team and stregthen somewhere where we're weak and only have one quota spot coming available the coach has to decide whether to sign the new player or stick with what he's got and hope a suitable none quota player comes available. What if we offer Menzies a new 1 year contract, lose the chance to sign a decent stand off and struggle through the season only to find nobody is suitable next season?

I agree with the people who say lets see what happens before we throw ourselves of the nearest cliff regarding ins and outs. But like wise we could all do with a bit of positive news regarding players coming in. The club have done it the past the signing of big Les, Morrison and more recently Menzies were all announced early.

Tell you something; if it gets to the stage of thinking about throwing myself off the nearest cliff, I'll be dragging a few other buggers off with me!
