Quote: MR BROWN "no, i mean if he keeps throwing punches and hitting nothing sooner or later he will get flattened. as far as menzies is concerned, imo he has been your stand out player this season, and to lesser extent semi and bj'"

I'd rather him hit nothing than hit something with one of those, because it would have knocked him out and Burgess would have got a hefty ban and fine. Menzies has been stand out, but that would be expected if you had seen him in NRL. Halley has been good aswell. I picked Atkins because some of his tries have sealed results for you, results, witbhout which you may not be in the play-off zone.

Jeffries hasn't been stand-out, he's had some stand-out games but needs to find consistency. Semi has been consistently good, but not amazing.

"I'm 49, I've had a brain haemorrhage and a triple bypass and I could still go out and play a reasonable game of rugby union. But I wouldn't last 30 seconds in rugby league." - Graham Lowe (1995):20201.jpg

Quote: Bully_Boxer "Interesting that after the Celtic defeat we had a thread twice as long by this time (not to mention several macca out ones). Now admittedly a win against Wakey at home isn't anything to organise a civic reception about.. but why is it that people are less inclined to post about a win? Perhaps it's just the British way!'"

Presumably because most people are relieved to get the win and they relax a little meaning they feel free to do something else, rather than feeling frustrated and irate when a team with obvious ability doesn't show it on the field, in which circumstances they come on here to vent their anger.

Once you have a couple of well rounded reports/comments such as those on this thread, what's to say? It's hardly clear that this means we've turned the corner, or that Macca isn't as hopeless as a lot continue to think. The odd choice of dropping Matt Cook, Deacon's continued presence and the patchy defense hardly merits a massive confidence boost, though of course it was a good win and some good rugby was played.

After all we beat Saints and Wakey back to back, had the bottom two clubs lined up and a chance to build a decent run, but we failed miserably to take advantage, that kind of frustration takes a lot of venting and from today's performance it's not at all clear the players won't revert to pretending not to know each other next week. Of course I hope we consolidate, push on next week and have some confidence lined up to beat saints at home spurring us on to a late season push in to the play-offs. When that happens I'm sure they'll be more reason to discuss where the so called 'NT' got it all wrong. But I'm not holding my breath just yet.

TBH i thought the crowd was bigger than that declared today, but it's still a concern, hopefully we can get on a role and get some interest back.

That kicking will secure Deacons spot in next weks line up (Unfortunately). I'm still in favour of:

3.Menzies
4.Nero

6.Sykes
7.Jeffries.

Deacon gave Macca a reason to keep him in 17 but in-game we need more variety.

I predict than next weeks line up will be similar though:

Halley
Sheriffe
Sykes
Nero
Tadulala
Jeffries
Deacon
Burgess
Newton
Lynch
Morrison
Menzies
Langley

Scruton
Kopzcak
Worrincy
Rinaldi

Maybe they would, but the season hasn't finished yet.

It's only the England game that would count if it's a 1 match ban.

dont see why it should tbh. apart from two conversions from the sidelines all the kicks were from infront off the sticks which sykes is perfectly capable of getting. And a kick out on the full was deacs only contribution to the ingame kicking iirc. If anything yesterdays performance has added to pressure on macca to drop deacon.

Of all our performances this year I thought this was closest to "par", ie best sums up the standard of the squad. Some good stuff mixed in with some sloppy play. A typical mid table level performance. If we maintain this level over the course of the rest of the season we could pick up a couple of places in the table, but not much more.

Red Amber and Black Fantasy Rugby League Champion 2012. By far the most sensible posts on this thread have come from mystic eddie. - copyright Ewwenorfolk 09.04.2013 Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. Mac won't see it like that, he'll see it as Deacon winning the game for us.

He must think we need to have Jeffries at 2nd receiver and therefore we have no other option for first receiver?

Can't see any other reason other than polaroids
