Talking to Brian Noble at the Grand Final last year his exact words we're "Tie Whitehead and Bateman down to five year contracts" couldn't you agree more.

| I think we have to be looking to move some of the fringe players on like Sykes, Ainscough, Platt etc and use that cap space to reward people like Crookes/Bateman/Whitehead etc.

Whitehead was the name mentioned.
I know in the off season the club basically said "go away" to one club who wanted the services of Tom Burgess.

| I agree, the club should say no. At the same time, the player should make it clear he wants to stay.
If the Bulls are no longer in financial trouble, there's no reason to accept offers for players.
With players coming out of contract this year, we should have some cap space available. Problem is, the money is not free until the players leave.

| The rumour is apparently to do with Whitehead and Hull but it doesn't ring true to me. Why would Elliot want to go to Hull when he had the chance to go to Leeds before re-signing with us?

| I think Hull have the potential to be up there challenging in the next few years. I reckon they will follow a similar route to Wire and try to buy players rather than wait around for players to come out of contract.

| Crookes's contract is up at the end of the year and he's already said he wants a new deal. Time to sort it before other clubs are alerted to his talent. He's taken time to come through but he seems to be coming good now.
As for the others, we need to be savvy enough to create enough space under the cap to keep them. As for the likes of Hull spalshing the cash, if we can continue to improve then maybe our kids will want to stay? We could do with building a club loyalty like Leeds have where most of their key players have chosen to stick around.

| Whitehead has just tweeted that the rumours are 'definitely not true'. Good news for now, but I hope hard work is continuing to get him signed up for the long term.

| How does Whitehead know the rumours are not true, MicktheGled only says Adam Pearson is planning a big money signing and that Whitehead was the name mentioned, not that a move as been made.
I'd be more worried about other teams trying to get hold of Bateman

| Well Bateman's under contract for another 2 years and signed for us in the face of much higher offers. He's a Bradford lad and a Bulls fan so that obviously played a part in his decision last time. Hopefully it will again, in the meantime I'd day he needs to keep doing what he's doing.
Clubs like Warrington who like to splash the cash and stockpile youngsters can make the offers but I hope he sticks with us where he's getting 1st team rugby in his hometown team.
What's Ben Helliwell doing nowadays? Noticed he's not figure in Wire's reserve grades for a while. There's an example of a kid who went for the money and hasn't got anywhere.

| As already stated we have quite a few fringe players we can offload to make space and one or two injury prone players who we should also offload. We have a really good core of talented home grown players who we need to keep hold of!
