I don't want to derail the thread, but your point is?????
That companies don't cross invest, or that morals are not subjective depending on your position at the time?

| Quote: bullinenemyland "I really don't get all the anomosity towards the sponsors. They provide a service and people have a free choice to make the decison.
Having personally used these type of services I feel very annoyed that some on here would stereotype me as being vunerable. I knew what I was doing so why the hell should you and all the other do gooders tell me i'm wrong to make that choice.
Even more so to suggest that the simple transaction of a loan should be wrong. Have you never needed to borrow money at short notice? If you haven't you're very lucky my friend but do for god sake take some time out to actually compare the practice of pay day loans with more historical loans companies and perhaps reconsider your moral standings from that point onwards.
I also would be very interested to know if Simon would agree with you in your comments about his supposed feelings towards the institution that has just agreed to pump in over a million pounds of investment???
As for the Jimmy Savile comment... just shows how utterly shot your moral compass is to compare the practices of such a sicko with a perfectly legitimate business.'"
You dont have to share my convictions but (and I don't know if you recall) the two of us have played on the same team and have shared a few beers. If you do remember me I would hope you would recognise that my moral compasss does not align provident with Jimmy Seville. My point was "where do you draw the line" and the use of an extreme gives the reader the opportunity to decide how close to that extreme they would accept.
Today I own my own consultancy and so I am lucky enough to not need to use such services, but there was a time when I was on the breadline with my (then) girlfriend being the main bread winner on just £3.55 an hour and I had to buy a cooker from Bright House and pay for it with pay slips from my employer. I and you are intelligent enough to use such services to get by but you can't pretend that they don't make their money from the less fortunate and (I'll say it again) the more vulnerable members of society.
Watch "the revolution will not be televised" and see a guy who's borrowing money "to pay his dealer" get a lone from the money shop. Watch panorama and see (perhaps an isolated example of) an agent talk about keeping people in debt so that she gets her bonus. I personally find it uncomfortable viewing.
Incidentally, during those poorer times, a member of the old bulls forum offered to give me £100 to help me out of a really difficult position ( a neighbouring pill head had tried to kick the door of my flat in.) I'm embarrassed to admit I can't remember their username. Last year a friend of mine got himself into trouble with A payday lending company who had reached the stage of charging him £100 a month in interest which he would never have been able to clear. I lent him £800 to pay them off and stop him getting into an endless spiral of debt. If we all helped eachother out to the best of our abilities, the companies who advertise during Jeremy Kyle would be out of business pretty quickly

| On the flip side, Peter Crook's (provident) comments on Look North are exactly what you want t hear from a local company
"Invest in the local community"
"help with the regeneration"
Maybe past performance is no guarantee of future results

| The Grattan stadium naming rights, which were lauded at the time, went for rl£500'000 over 4 yearsrl - conveniently the same as this time frame as this deal. That leaves £700'000 over 4 years for sponsorship - £175'000 per year. I very much doubt we achieved that but perhaps one of the accountants can confirm.
Given the relative stature of our club in 2006 vs now and the state of the economy, it really puts the value of this deal into perspective.

| Things would be so much better if everyone helped each other to the best of their abilities but unfortunately that will never be the "norm". So these companies do have a role to play and most people use them in a correct short term manner. The few who do not, whilst I can sympathise, are fools to themselves. These are always meant to be short term loans. I will wear the shirt proudly next season with the Provident logo boldly on display. This company have stated that they wish to invest locally etc and this can be seen as trying to go some way to making amends for the people who get caught up in the spiral of debt. I for one am very chuffed with OK, GS and team for brokering this deal and for a local company taking the chance on us and allowing us some of the tools to start making a challenge again. I think it is great that we have obtained such a huge sponsorship deal from a Bradford company. COYB

| Big money sponsor for a club that 2 months ago was circling the drain.
The main problem with getting RL to grow is the lack of big money investment into the sport. This is a positive step forward for both the Bulls and RL in general and the new owner and board have again been proven as men of their word when they promised big things for the club going forward.

| Not happy about this. But at least it's made my decision about buying a shirt a bit easier.

| From where you guys where just a few months ago this is massive.
I'm pleased for the Bulls to have this deal. £1.2m over four years is guaranteed income something which can't be ignored.
Whilst "The Provvy" are not everyone's ideal sponsor I don't think there would be many SL clubs would turn them down if they knew £1.2m was there for the taking.
Well done Bradford, pleased for you!

Yeah, I do pal... just put it down to a bad day at work. I ranted without even looking at the name
That said, I still believe there is still a place for these kind of companies. It shouldn't stop those who can control their borrowing and spending just cos some can't.
Then again, if the banks hadn't f**ked everything up there may have been no need for theseloans in the first place.
Sorry again for the rant
