| Murphy suggests via Twitter that we'll know within a week. He also says it is very close.
I'm firmly in the Mick Potter camp atm.

| It's neither. I was drinking with duffers and hoody in the Craven heifer last night.
I won't say outright who it is but I'll give you a clue. His first name starts with an L and his second name starts with a St.

| Quote: Gurus_Beard "I would wager on Potter being appointed to continue the "all things antipodean being quite marvellous" misconception that exists in RL. Then the PR wagon wheel of "track record, 5 Grand Finals, players speak highly of him, history with the Bulls, great guy, unfinished business" yada yada will be trotted out.
Albeit I feel Mac would be a far more astute appointment given some of the excellent young players he has helped produce as well as turning the some average players into pretty handy ones.
Neither a bad appointment however given the apparently limited finance available.'"
That has absolutely no bearing on whether he'll be a good head coach or not what so ever. That's the job of the development coach or what ever they call them these days. Every club in the SUper league know with the exception of that soul less franchise in Wrexham has it's own academy churning out quality players that are filling up their own squads. My friend used to work for harlequins and she says it's the culture within the organisation as a whole from board level down. Brian McDermott has undoubtedly put his heart and a lot of work into it but so has Steve Macnamara at Bradford. I think the club need to appoint the man that will get the best out of the first team squad as a priority over everything else as if the current slump (and I'm talking about the last five years and I'm not holding Macnamara responsible for that) continues there'll be only us lot on here rattling around the Odsal Bowl by the end of next season. In that respect we need the coach to have been at winning clubs from a marketing point of view or season ticket sales could tumble.
That's the priority and the man to do it will be revealed this week.

| Brian Potter will be brilliant, the catering will pick up and we'll bring in some top talent. Him and Jerry St Clair would be my dream team.

| I would be happy with Potter. Why would he leave Saints though?

He's already leaving Saints.
He wanted an NRL job apparently, but there are none available.

and thats the one problem with us appointing him. how commited will he be should a NRL post become available? last thing we need is to through this disruption again a year or so down the road. Thats why a potter/mcdermott team would make good sense. Potter to kickstart things and help mcdermott out then mcdermott stepping into main role without disruption when potter goes. Doubt club can make it work financially though

Sign him on a 2 or 3 year deal.
That would show he's commited enough not to jump to the NRL next season.
I'd love to see Potter & McDermott combined but I doubt there's much chance of that happening.

dont think we'd be able to hold him to a contract if he wanted out enough. even if we could legally, he could just put out youth team a few weeks running until board are forced to sack him.

| Only one option.
Potter head coach, McDermott assistant with Michael Maguire as defence coach and Tony Smith attack coach.
Make it happen Hood.

Add in Robbie Paul as head of PR and Jimmy Lowes as Head of Crowd control and we're done and dusted. Can't think of any reson not to have that set up...

Don't forget Solomona for head of catering.

I can, a total lack of ambition.
