I know Cummins is inexperienced, but he's always been very loyal - both as a player and coach. Your side started to gel together really well through all the recent troubles, and a lot of that will be down to friendships strengthened in adversity. Going to a new coach from outside could damage that in the short-term, whereas you'd think the players would feel that they owed Cummins some loyalty given he's stuck around without being paid.

I'm not suggesting that is the only criteria for a head coach, but you can't buy that sort of bonding within the squad and with the coach. I've seen teams with nothing much but team spirit do very well indeed - and teams full of big names do nothing as the one thing they lacked was team spirit.

The article does not say (inter alia) how soon after the sackings the approach took place, although some will be aware, but regardless of that the above suggests what you are looking for is unlikely?

It can only work if Franny gets shut of the backroom staff (are they actually employed anyway?) and starts afresh with his people, or people who the club put in with some sort of pedigree of being part of success and/or excellence.

Johh Kear wouldve been good, as would Karl HArrison or Nobby, or even Daryl Powell or MArk Aston. These are all British and relatively toung, albeit vastly more experienced of working to a tight budget and spotting cheap talent tha Fran is.

Having said that, whoever gets the job has my 100% support.

Why?

A lot of people seem to think St Hilaire isn't up to the job. Not sure what they base it on other than he was around when McNamara was in charge and we were playing much worse. Any improvement since much have been down to others then...

Just think that he should be given a chance to have who he wants around him and that we should allow some to leave. He will need an assistant, maybe two. perhaps a chance to bring in a couple of recently retired players or an old head, or one of each. Potter did ok with the current lot but he strikes me as a very different personality to fran!

St Hillaire isnt rated, but we dont know how much responsibilkity he was given by mcnamara as opposed to mick!

What's cummins gonna do as he's openly spoken out about players he doesn't rate, players who's careers are over & players he wants out of bulls
But these players still have 1 year contracts left at the club. With only 16 players signed up looks like he's going to have to play the players who's careers are over- Langley Scruton and walker
