| poor signing for leeds if true as they already have a couple of decent kids champing at the bit in the and hape would only slow their progress. Even a loan deal would eat into their available free cap space and possibly prevent them being able to bag a decent player mid season if someone does become available plus cant see bath agreeing to a deal which risks there getting crocked playing for someone else then sent back injured.
Now I could see a loan deal to leeds tykes to learn how to play union at a lower level as being a possibility and it has benefits from baths point of view.

Senior players who go to union is just same as going to another SL team you release there registration. Leeds hadn't retained iestyns registration which is why we were able to sign him, If they had retained his reg it would have been a none starter and save a load off trouble

| Any actual evidence of these negotiations? Or is it 'fill in the off season' style speculation.

I'm sorry but I can't be held responsible for all the posts on the Rhinos forum.

| Shows how short of centres many clubs are if they're after him too.
I wonder what the young lads at Leeds and Saints would think if Hape was brought in before them?

| Don't I remember Hape coming out with some guff shortly before he went to RU about how he couldn't play for another English RL club apart from Bradford because he loved it so much, or some other similar claptrap?

to be brutally honest the sheer lack of effort on hapes part last season left a bad taste. whilst he'll always be remembered for 2003-2007, last season tarnished his record in my eyes and if saints want to take a risk on him there welcome.

They'd probably think that there will be plenty of oportunities whilst he is on the treatment table.

| Quote: A Bath fan "I happened upon Mr Hape himself this morning in Bath and he very nicely responded to my query. (no I havn't been lurking). I told him there was a thread on the ERE message board (to which he said "What's that"icon_wink.gif with a rumour that he was thinking of moving back to rugby league. I explained that there was some discussion about this likelihood, as we thought he was doing a good job and had put in some good improving performances although, as he said himself, he is still learning. He was extremely open and clear about his response.
He has specifically asked me to let you all know that he loves Steve Meehan (!!) he loves Bath supporters and that he would not have moved his family down here for 3 years if he was going to go back to League. So we can hit that one dead in the water! He also indicated that they couldn't afford him! He has had the dreaded stomach lurgy this week so has not been training and thus not fit for selection.
P.S. What a nice courteous bright lad!'"

| Just no. I don't think he'd be good enough anymore, and besides, I wouldn't waste a quota spot on him.

No chance of an ex RL player getting the call whilst Martin Johnson is in charge.
