| Quote: Bullseye "I fully expect Garside to stay. As for Chisholm I wouldn't be surprised if he's had offers from some of the lower level SL clubs so negotiations may be ongoing. I would expect any further signings might depend on the outcome of those talks as if he went it'd leave a gap in the halves but also free up a fair amount of salary.'"
To be honest, I'm not really sure Chissy has been playing at anywhere near the level to entice even lower level SL clubs this last season. He is [icapapble[/i of far better than we've had last year though imo, and I hope I'm correct in saying that he won't attract SL clubs as I'd like to see him back here. As time passes it will become more and more difficult to find a replacement and, as has been suggested above, I'm sure the partnership between Keyes and Lilley would not really be strong enough to carry us through the year on their own. Much as it's been only rarely seen at times over recent months, we need his 'spark'.

| Quote: Bull Mania "Yeah i was going to mention the accounts (did he say £500k loss on the radio?) don't think thats a surprise to anyone. No season ticket money, sponsors etc and had to pay for a FT squad next year and all equipment to basically run a club.'"
The situation was different then as we had a decent figure in the bank, but we were running a fairly regular £500K losses in the middle noughties (according to published accounts) before the brown stuff finally hit the rapidly whirring object. If that last figure is an exception, and as has been suggested, must have been covered, then there is probably little to worry about, given we were a start-up the previous season, with all the associated start-up costs. If the next set of figures show a similar figure, then I'll start worrying.

| So long as someone is covering the loss then fair enough. That's the situation at 99% of RL clubs.

| Didn't Irvine confirm that Chalmers was putting substantial amounts of money in?
For our first year, starting from scratch someone had to put money in?

That's bang on. . Chissy, who we know has his faults, is a crowd pleaser by the fact that his ability to score long range tries with a touch of brilliance brings excitement and can ignite a dull game.

And we crashed out of SL, 1 year before central funding went from £1.2 to £1.8m. If, buts & maybes...

Yes he did, though I read that as being a reference to this year. It may be Chalmers who covered the loss last year, but it's probably someone else.
To start from scratch with a full time professional club most likely meant that an initial loss was always part of the Business Plan. Maybe that's why the administrator wouldn't accept the bid. £500k isn't a huge loss in terms of sport. Yorkshire CCC would love a loss like that!
That doesn't mean we should take it lightly though, especially with our history, but it does seem to be covered.
If nothing else it's a good reality check for a few supporters who think the playing budget is a bottomless pit. Every time we announce a great signing you can rely on someone posting "ok, still could do with a couple of props, a half back, some wingers etc etc". We probably could but who's paying for it?

| Not sure Chalmers is wealthy enough to cover losses of that magnitude. I suspect someone else is chipping in. Cue tinfoil hat wearers…
If we don’t re-sign Chisholm then we certainly need a replacement. Lilley and Keyes with Wildie and Milnes as backup isn’t really good enough. I think Chisholm is capable of better than he’s given us this season. I make allowances for the injury but at the same time he’s looked at times like he’s going through the motions. It’s easy to get seduced by the flashes of magic and we’ll need those bits of flair next season. What we also need is the discipline in his game he showed versus Oldham in the playoffs. We don’t need him running down blind alleys and confusing the team with too much off the cuff rugby. He reminds me of Rangi Chase in many ways (on the field!) in that he can do special things but can be frustrating to run off for other players.

| I've always felt as if Marvin Kockrash was lurking somewhere. Would anybody be surprised to see se him pop up?
Is McFarlane still involved?
What about any other Kockrash links?
Calmers
McFarlane
Lowe
?

| Robbie isn't at the Bulls anymore, he never had any money. Irvine is employed up at the Bulls - he's not a money man, same goes for McFarlane.
Lowe isn't involved anymore. He didn't have any money either.
It certainly isn't Koukash.

Are you sure?
Is it just coincidence that they've all been employed at one club by one man and then they're all involved to some extent within another organisation?
I do.

| I can see the connection but Marwan Koukash is no shrinking violet that pumps in half a million quid and doesn't claim any credit.
