Quote: dddooommm "Was Minchella substituted due to an injury?'"

I would guess it was because the lad ran his blood to water - as he always does.

Can't beat a Bradford lad with a Bradford shirt on - warms cockles of me heart.

I didn't see that coming - seeing as we actually played a mostly St Helens side overall.

That said - Micky Higham would be in my team any day and at least he is a true Leyther....

Despite having no half backs and having no idea how to attack - we did it through sheer grit and determination - cashing in on the many loose passes from Leigh.

Was good to see Hood losing his marbles over something and the Leigh staff going nuts over something else (no idea what)

Our decisive scores in the second half came from Leigh errors and nothing else.

The Evans try saver was the game changer for me - just superb and it deflated them like a pin in a balloon.

Happy days - time for Corona and crisps..

What a performance. We're definitely improving and only going to get better with the players we have to come back (Peltier, Lilley, Keyes/Chisholm)

I thought our forwards were superb and all deserve a breather next week.

Farrell, Minchella and Storton all turned their blood to water. They just couldn't put Storton down. All 4 props ran with real intent. Evans was a class above. Him and Gibsons try saver at 20-12 was the game breaker for me. Shout out to Rowan Milnes who created both our opening tries with a lovely pass and kick. Our breakaway tries weren't luck, they were from excellent defensive work which forced Leigh to panic.

Discipline also a big factor. The ref was frustrating with too many technical penalties where it should have been play on and too many given from players diving. I thought it would cost us as we were getting pens on the zero and first tackle, and we seemed to concede them on the 4th/5th in the first half. But when we were given a glut of baffling penalties against us in the first half, we seemed to crack on, whereas Leigh seemed to lose their rag hence the 2 sin-binnings.

Webster is so key, really is standing up to the opposition and giving plenty to them in those "heated moments" he gives us that backbone that we've lacked for a good number of years.

Lastly well done Kear. I was frustrated early in the season with our poor attack but we definitely seem much more fluid now, and that's with our first 3 HBs out.

A young squad with plenty of HG players that's improving. Happy Bulls fan tonight.

How did Bentley play?

Does he get into our strongest 17?

I thought he did OK but would have Storton in my side before Bentley. He gets better and better with every game.

No complaints. The better team won. We didn't help ourselves in the second half, (with the elements in our favour - is it always that cold? icon_wink.gif ) with very poor discipline, and very little respect for the scraps of possession we got!

Thought our physio was a player, who had left his warm-up shirt on, he was on the pitch that much.

Well done, on a deserved win, and here's to the game at LSV - where it will definitely be warmer! icon_wink.gif

Hard at it today so couldn't make the trip. Will view the match on Centurions TV on (probably) Tuesday. For now, well done to your boys. icon_thumb.gif

Great result. Shows what a difference it makes having a half on the field.

Thought your 'non half', Wildie, had a very good game. He's done that to us at Fev too, when pressed into service at half back.

Again I thought it was our defence that won us the game. We started slowly and seemed a bit mesmerised whenever Higham had the ball. Thankfully once we got some decent field position we took our chances, something we'd not been great at recently. Lovely play from Milnes to put Webster through a gap and his kick for Storton to score was really well worked.

I thought Leigh looker slicker in attack but they couldn't seem to make it pay off. As things got a bit frustrating with the number of penalties given Leigh seemed to lose composure. Pownall's sin binning was pretty typical of him. He was sinbinned for gobbing off at Halifax earlier in the season and he did it again here. Them losing Hood into the sin bin also helped us a lot too.

As for our second half I thought there were a couple of pivotal moments. Ryan's try in the corner from dummy half being one and the cover tackle from Evans and Gibson to keep Marsh out being the other. We seemed to kick on from there and it was our defence that forced the errors for the Wildie and Evans long range tries. DFJ would've had one too but for an ankle tap.

Thought the pack was immense. Webster really adds some leadership and toughness too. We struggled a bit in attack at times but it was yet another halfback pairing. When we get a settled combination I'm very optimistic about getting int the top 5.

A good win against good opposition, imo.

Hard to argue against much of what has already been said, though I think our defence was really the key for the final scoreline. Leigh probably started the 'final push' a bit early and were trying bit too much to push the pass when it just wasn't on. Who knew Wildie had so much pace? Despite the final score, overall it was a good tight game and we maybe had a bit of good fortune to be given those late chances but we were good enough to take them.

The way we kept our composure when the handbags came out impressed me. In games like this in the past we’ve got too caught up in that and gone away from the gameplan. The young lads are maturing nicely in this respect. Perhaps we learnt some lessons from the Sheffield match?

Leigh were terrible 'with the ball' 2nd half and wouldn't have scored for another hour after the final hooter....even if the Bradford Bulls players had left the field ! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

It was certainly a good day to play Leigh, who were well out of sorts. The sin binings didn't help their cause either. We probably got the rub of the green this time, but it was good to see us ruthlessly exploit it.
Imaginative team selection was a good sign and it all worked. It's a very competitive league and this was an important win.
Ps not sure if "binings" is an actual word. Apologies if not : icon_biggrin.gif
