| Hallas leaving shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as it's been rumoured for ages. Good luck to him. He's always given 100% for us.
Just wonder if the Hampshire rumour is a journalist putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5.

| Anyone else quite surprised by some of the signings that Championship clubs are pulling off? I thought this division was meant to be skint?

Maybe going PT is better financially for some with the SL reduced contract. That garden of roses Lenegan, Elstone etc promised us turned out well didn't it.

| It does feel like we've either modestly improved or stood still. Against a backdrop of some good people coming in at Fax etc, I'm a bit concerned with where we are in the pecking order at the moment.

I think our big issue was strength in depth - we seem to be largely solving that especially if we manage to get Hampshire and another SR in - I think we should be a fair bit stronger and healthier in that regard and will make a massive difference

| If we get Hampshire and another forward or two then we do look stronger than last year. That said, the opposition has strengthened too. Fev and Leigh will be the top two and Fax look a lot stronger. Newcastle will expect to be in the top four or five with what they're spending. Batley and Whitehaven will be up there too and they had the beating of us last year.

Different spine and more forwards could well prove the difference! Hopefully! That’s why champ is a great comp though!

"AJ is a barnstormer, great leg speed and he does confront people with how he carries and he is very good defensively, I am looking to change his position, that is a project for me as I think I can help him achieve his promise by moving him slightly out of position. " Unless I've missed it, it doesn't say what position JK has in mind for him.

I think this is a big part of it. I've seen several signings where this was mentioned specifically in the press release, most recently with Kyle Wood at Halifax.
I think that SL wages have largely stood still over recent years, so squad players at SL teams are effectively worse off than they were a few years back. As they come towards the latter part of their careers, there must come a point where they are thinking that they are going to be better off starting their post-playing career and going P/T
Did I see that Joel Tomkins was 'doing an Elliot Kear' and joining the fire service? You can't blame players for doing this. It's a short career and apart from the very top guys they are just won't earn enough to not need a 'second' career
I think we'll start to see this more and more in coming years, even with 'name' players - unless more money comes into the game and the salary cap is raised.

| Think AJ will move to second row for you, mostly played prop for us. I really rate him, He's a good young player with plenty of explosive plays in him, looking forward to seeing how he develops.
Nichol...He's got a lot to work on, his discipline and error rate are really poor, Joe Burton was miles better at the same age.

| Burton has yet to kick on but he looks to have some potential. Good luck to these two lads. As John Bastian always used to say the key to player development is to play games and not just be training all the time. Hopefully these two (and Burton) will get the opportunity either in the first team or in reserve grade.
