| What a diabolical team selection today, seems to me that we were happy with second going into the game.
And if there's any truth to the statement that MG told a fan that they were aiming for second after the game and not first, you can absolutely see it in the team we went with.
If not then and Jimmy went with it because he thought it was our best chance of winning, then he seriously needs to give his head a good shake because it was dismal.
Yes we can afford to lose the game today, next week and the week after that, but IMO we cant go into the M8's out of form.
As it stands right now, I don't see where our next win is coming from because if we turn up in todays form we will get turned over by Leigh and Fax.
We really don't want to be heading into the M8's competition on the back of 1 & 4.
May as well change the flyers for next week as well because its no longer the battle for the Championship leaders, that is Leigh's now. Knock about 1K of the potential gate as well now there is nothing to play for.

| Quote: rugbyreddog "So who carries the can? Jimmy for the coaching and non rotation of squad or Ferret for providing such an unbalanced squad with 29 props and 1 playmaker? Ferret obviously has the bosses ear so it will be down to him to either fall on his sword or point to JL. I know what I think he will do. Personally I think they have both contributed equally. Our main problem is that the owner is such a relative new comer to RL and relies heavily on the Ferret.'"
Jimmy's to blame IMO Ferres has assembled a decent squad. Jimmy's chosen to send certain individuals out on loan and certain names are guaranteed a place in the team every week You say we've several props, but our go lack of go forward was frightening. Yet Tahraoui who did well at the beginning of the season, is on loan. Again we've had Addy at HB(who just never ever will be a HB) plays badly every week, Purtell has played there, while our promising HB is playing very well for Keighley. Why not play him against Doncaster, see what he can do. Our passing today was amateurish.
Danny Addy will play every game under Jimmy, yet has been poor for weeks. Henry comes straight in after one game out, again was diabolical. Vila who can play hooker, loose or HB, is left out while Jimmy puts a winger on the bench . Walker again, offers nothing, guaranteed spot in team. Walshaw will be the scapegoat that is dropped.
Sorry but i just cannot see us getting promoted. We have no momentum or form at all. Take out the Hunslet result, it's been months since we played well. O'Brien got battered yet again and is no where near the player he was at the beginning of the season.
Everyone could see that the team should have been rotated against Donny, Hunslet etc to see what others could do, and rest key men. We should now be playing our strongest squad, getting some good wins against tough opposition, and really hitting those middle 8's with momentum. Why the hell did Jimmy decide to rest Clough against the team in 3rd, yet play him last week against Hunslet!

| So if prices went up this year so we could assemble the squad we have how much will it be if we decide we seriously want to challenge for promotion.

If we remain full time (which I'm sure we will do) then I'd expect prices to stay relatively similar for next year.
I've read somewhere how much 1st and 2nd get for central funding next year and it's more than I thought it was, plus you only get £10k more for finishing 1st rather than 2nd.
There shouldn't be too much of a shortfall for us to make up, and it will be hard for MG to justify a price hike.

| Poor selection by JL. Our impact prop (Lauaki) started the game and managed 12 minutes and then nothing until the game was lost. Henry walks back in and has another howler, Shaw can kick but nothing else. Addy tries hard but is a pack player. Mullany looked to be hamstrung again - how many weeks off? Walker gives little as well as no leadership. AOB was skittled out of the way too many times and should have been removed for own safety as referee wheelbarrow would only see a leading forearm or high tackle if it hit him in the face. The one real positive for me was Walshaws contribution on return. Sheffield ran riot for 65 minutes and we had no answer, plan B or anything.
Season could well go out in a whimper full of embarrassing performances. No doubt JL will bring back Gaskill next week just for him to get head knocked off.
What a prime example of how not to pick a team and do ones best to lose our travelling support who were remarkably quiet today. Shambles.

| If we've learnt anything this season it's this: James Lowes is a crap coach. There were plenty of people saying so and lots of evidence to back it up before his appointment.
Anyone betting on the Bulls to make Super League is throwing their money down the drain.
Marc Green hasn't made too many bad decisions but this one was a howler.

| I am a glass half full person and really want to be a passionate supporter and support the coach but two quotes spring to mind ...
Insanity: "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"
"The measure of intelligence is the ability to change"
Albert Einstein.

| If the coach wasn't "our Jimmy" he would be getting crucified right now by the supporters because we have been poor all season but because we are in the championship we are still near the top.
Unless he can miraculously click his fingers and make us play like a super league team in three weeks time we will stay where we are.
I still think Ferres brought a good squad together but they just are not playing anywhere near their potential.
That does come down to the coach. We have a squad of 31 but really only use about 20 of them.
Jimmy has 9 games to save his reputation and possibly career at the Bulls. Even if we don't go up he will be with us next season but I think most supporters will have changed their opinion of him by October and start asking questions about his temperament, team selection and coaching ability. Being a stubborn, pig headed so and so on the field was one thing but a coach must have other qualities. Jimmy looks to be struggling right now.
Harrison only has this year on his contract.
Do we let him go if we don't go up - but that would make it hard to appoint another assistant without the obvious question of is he there to replace Jimmy - so Karl has to stay another year to stop that discussion starting.
Jimmy has to get the lads playing as a team or he loses the fans by Christmas!

I agree with you agreeing with him
I went to Dewsbury and london game today. Dewsbury look very good, everything is done at pace, last pass sometimes let them down but they looked very well drilled, as we saw at Odsal a few week ago
Nathan Conroy was only on for a short time at the start of the second half but looked pretty good until he got a bit of a knock to the head then didn't come back on. If he had been given a fair crack at the whip I think he could of definately offered something for us this season
I like Jimmy but the team selection last few weeks is baffling and why we have signed another winger at this stage of the season is even more baffling

| We were terrible today for 65 minutes. Not sure if it was worse than the performance against Featherstone but it wasn't far off. How many times did we drop the ball on our spread plays? Almost every single time we switched the ball from left to right we knocked on or put the ball into touch, Henry and Uaisele being the main culprits. Our attacking moves are not fluid, they don't attract defenders, and far too often we end up with no overlap and thus we don't break the line, or we end up coughing up possession.
Our tries came when we started playing with a little more freedom. At 30-6 down they probably thought the game was gone and they chanced their arm a bit. We then scored a few more in similar fashion, but the tries didn't come from set moves, they came from individual pieces of skill to break the line. If this is the best way of scoring points, for us, then why do we insist on spread plays that barely ever come off? I know it works for a lot of teams (Wigan are the prime example) but I'm not sure it's working for us. When we look to offload and play instinctively (O'Brien running from dummy half, Mullaney jinking his way through, etc.) we look far more dangerous.
It wasn't the attack that's the problem, though. I'm confident we can score points and we're scoring a decent amount even without our main playmaker. The defence is a bigger issue. It was obvious against Featherstone when they tore through us with simple plays, and it was the same today in the first half. The tries Sheffield were scoring weren't wonder tries, not by any stretch, just players brushing would-be tacklers off the ball and running through the holes our players had vacated. If we defend like we did today against a team like Widnes or Hull KR then we'll get slaughtered.
As for the team selection, I didn't understand it. Why rest Clough today against the team in third, but play him against Hunslet? Why does Jimmy keep naming outside backs on the bench rather than a second hooker. If O'Brien gets injured and can't continue, who fills in at hooker? Addy? We've been playing for too long without a recognised half-back because Gaskell and Siejka are injured. We could have used Brook, our young prospect, but instead he's been shipped off to Keighley and is playing well for them instead. Why haven't we seen him this season, at all?
Perhaps we've already settled for second before the match and that's why a couple of players were rested, but if we'd have won today, first place was still a possibility. Maybe we're happier finishing second. Either way, with this defeat, I'd throw the Leigh game completely. Don't play Gaskell. Don't risk Mullaney if he's tweaked his hamstring. And for the love of God, please give Adam O'Brien a week off.

| Have we assembled THAT good a squad though, with 2015 in mind? Most of our decent performers played for us last year - albeit some of them on loan. Only off season signings I've thought have made any real impression are Mullaney when he's fit and Clough who IMO always puts a shift in. Was also going to say Williams but he was on loan the end of last year I forgot

The squad is good. The way we've used it hasn't been.

Doesn't really matter who was with is last season as the day we got relegated, we had NO players. Ferres had to effectively resign Gaskell, O'brien, Ferguson etc
The squad is good enough.
I'm torn whether to throw the leigh game. We're in a bad situation that we shouldn't be in and Lowes has to take reaponsibility.
On the one hand we throw the next two games and rest Gaskell, O'brien, Pitts etc until the middle 8's. Problem we have is we'll get murdered by Leigh and most likely lose to a red hot Fax team. We then go into the middle 8'a in awful form, the crowd (who have been brilliant all season, who are vital to the teams success, they can really lift a team when they get right behind them) are on the backs of the team and coach because of the form, and the team has no confidence.
But some players clearly need a rest, if we play them against Leigh, they're that tired they'll get murdered anyway.
Lowes should have used his squad fully and rotated so he can play his strongest squad right now and we start hitting form. Instead we have key players who are worn out, and we're in poor in form.
So frustrated!
