Agree with you on that Matt
Halley is staying put at full back for me

It is certainly an interesting signing. If you want a half back it seems risky to go for someone who is injury prone and has not played in the position at first grade level for several years. Given the importance of the role and the limitations on overseas players it shows a willingness to take risks at the Bulls.

But when/after the season we have just had it's worth the risk to try a player like Kearney in the halves.
I think he still has a lot to offer and from what I've seen of him when he has played it's been good stuff.

| Spent half of his career injured, played about 70 games in 6 seasons, a less than average half back, no better than Halley as a FB, Overseas quota player - A poor signing if true.
If it is true then it's back to FB for Platty, Halley bunged on the wing, Kearney at 6, Deacs at 7 and out of the window with my Sykes suggestion.
Worse than this year.

I suggested this with fear as a possible signing just over a month or so back, it now appers highly likley that it could indeed be true.

It said in the Australian media that Cronulla full back Brett Kearney has signed a massive deal to join a super league club. Now I don't want to put a dampener on this brilliant news, but I hope we are not signing him and then letting Dave take Semi's position on the left wing. I can't see it, but it's just something there what's making me a little nervous.
I'd prefer us to head into the new season with Dave starting on at fullback and retaining Semi on the left.'"

Why would us signing a half push Halley to the wing?

| Says on the Cronnula website he is still injured with a foot / ankle problem and his length of absence is indefinate. Sounds like a very big gamble to me.

Well I think if we sign Kearney we will lose Tad, then as I say, Halley to replace Tad, Platt back to FB, Kearney to 6, Deacs to 7.

Fair point. I hadn't equated it with the loss of Tadulala.

| Signing an injury prone fullback to play out of position in the halves?
Yep, that sounds like the kind of signing we'd make
