Hmm. Maybe we could get that Spitfire on loan, and have Harris zoom in from over the Coral Stand on 70 minutes and strafe the opposition. I've checked the Rules, and can't see anything against it

The recruitment is a joke. Dejavu from last year. Ferres signs player x. Coach Lowes decides whether he likes player x pretty early on (and when i say like I dont mean whether he's a good player or not) if coach Lowes likes player X then be is pretty much indespensible no matter how badly he performs (Lauaki, Blythe etc )if coach Lowes doesn't like player x, then player x either sits round twiddling his thumbs not getting an opportunity no matter how bad coach Lowes's favourites are performing, or gets sent out on loan (Tahraouri Petersen Walshaw Uaisele Ulugia, Brook ) Meanwhile we have a centre, second rower, FB half back partnership going on with coach Lowes intelligently pointing out we're too slow with the ball and not looking organised.

Well if he agreed to take charge of the side without having much say on recruitment then he's a fool. It's not like he was out of a job and desperate.

| Thomas Bosc is not the solution either so I have no idea why people would want him to sign. We need an organiser to marshall the team around the pitch, Bosc is not this player.
Unfortunately there isn't that many players around who can do this and would be available. I'm still gutted that the Bulls never gave Brook a run in the side as we will never know how good he could have been. Instead he's now in a part time environment playing with part time players. Very difficult to judge.
The only ones I can realistically see us getting in before end of the season are Theo Farges if he drops down the pecking order at Saints for a period of time or maybe Kyle Wood (although I wouldnt be sure if Wood would be the right fit either).
Only other option is we get an unknown from Oz/NZ in just before the Middle 8's but this is a dangerous strategy which backfired on Leigh and us (with Neilson) in the fact they were either unfit or not used to playing with the team. At half back that could be a problem.
Unfortunately I think the ship has sailed and whatever we get is not going to be good enough!!!

| Speaking to Steve Ferris today I asked him about the need for a scrum half. He said you tell me where I can find one as there is a real shortage in the game and we are not the only Club in the market, he also mentioned Saints had been over to Oz twice recently and had no luck.He went on to say they have had no luck at all in signing one and have been thwarted for various reasons and cited one that got away from about 2 weeks ago. He confirmed that the negotiations for the lease from the RFL is still ongoing and we had a robust discussion about his press releases. He also feels confident that the Team performances will turn round in the next week or two!

Totally agree - think we should have given Brook a few more games. Hoping that Adrian Purtell can give us a bit more stability on the pitch - we shall see. Think we need a settled team and not a team of individual players who keep changing every game. I know we have had injuries, but so have other teams, but we wont succeed until we have some consistency and take away the panic factor, which creates mistakes.

We don't just want someone who can organise though. We need someone with a kicking game as that is yet another area we are absolutely woeful in. Also we need a halfback who can take the line on not just receive the ball and pass it on.
Bosc be a brilliant signing IMO. Probably not an out an out organiser but he would be better than Addy and a natural HB.

| Would love to know whether we knocked Sammut back as we weren't interested? With no HB'S available i still feel he would have been a good option

I agree... Certainly an extra threat in attack that we are so desperately missing!

With respect to all concerned, our needs are not the same as Saints and, let's be honest, any player on Saints radar is unlikely to sign for us, so for Ferres to pretend we're in the same market and compare our situation with them is a little bit disingenuous, imo. There must he halves who are not good enough for Saint Helens who would nevertheless do a great job for us. It may be true that they are also not available of course...
