We were a different team in the 2nd half.

In the first half, we played a very workman like game. Nothing fancy, but enough to get the job done. Trouble is, we can't seem to maintain that attitude for 80 minutes.

I think Diskin is pivotal for us. When he started to tire, we dropped off a bit, when he went off after about 65mins, we lost a lot of direction.

When we got that penalty just after they went to 12 men, we kicked it. I thought that was too cautious at the time and we should have gone for the 4. We lost composure after Moore went off, it happens sometimes but is frustrating.

I'd be tempted to throw Brook in. By all accounts he had ANOTHER storming game at HB today. Addy just isn't working at 6. The play is so slow and breaks down completely. Agree about us dropping off, but perhaps nerves played a part. Got to keep improving now.

Hence, taking the two when we were 16-6 up - even though that would have only got us a draw had Wakey come back with two converted tries. As it happened we got another penalty to push us out to three scores, but there was no way to know that at the time. I'm sure its simply the lack of confidence after so many losses, but it looked like we went into our shell rather than put Wakefield to the sword, as we should have done.

In the end 20-12 ended up looking like a much closer game than it was. We were actually far better than Wakefield, and something like 26-6 (at least) would have been a fairer reflection of the balance of play.

It's amazing to think that if we - by some miracle - got our points back and then beat Salford (not at all impossible given Salfords form) we could be 4th from bottom after the next round of games

Reading a lot of negative comments since the game... Isn't there an element of not playing our best and still getting the win??

True but we probably won't play a worse team than Wakey until the last game of the season when we play London. We have some crucial games coming in the next few weeks, the more "winnable" games, but all the teams are reasonably strong. We have to play much better and alter a few things and i think that is what most posters are getting at.

Agreed, but reality is that we are going to need to step it up at least one or two notches if we are to beat the 'middle ranking' teams - the teams like Hull KR and Widnes that we absolutely must beat to have any hope of avoiding relegation.

It's not being 'negative' to think that we are going to have to improve on what we saw today - although I'm sure we are all very grateful for the win and the improvement over the last few matches.

Taking the two at 16-6 up was the right call. Might not change how many tries wakefield needed to score but it puts much more pressure on the goal kicker. It also means the option of a drop goal would have meant wakefield needed to score 3 more tries which they were never going to do.

I thought we came out fired up in first half and were the much better team deserving of the 16-0 lead. Also looked a lot better with kafusi and manu on.

Wakefield looked a poor side but came out much stronger in 2nd half. We looked flat until the kear moor clash, and that got us up again.

Personally i never thought we looked like losing, but i was expecting a little bit more from wakefield.

There were quite a few gaps near my seat, people who are regular attenders who didn't show.

It is June now though, and a fair few folk will have their jollies booked and much as I love summer rugby that was always going to be the downside.

Having had a while to think about it, the most encouraging thing for me was just how bad Wakey actually are. Of course I have already said I now think it's pretty much impossible for us to stay up, and if we don't string together the wins it will make no odds, but at least we can be sure Wakey won't be winning many more this year.

But I don't want them to be [ithat[/i bad, in case they sack Agar.
