| Bagging Barry for his view because it doesn't concur with others is pish poor form.
He is right in many regards.
Orford hasn't honoured his contract. We of course have never approached any player under contract.
He wants a release. And the problem is what?

Taking the Bulls' money for months when it seems reasonably clear he wanted a release months ago, but chose to string the club along while he or his agent pursued alternatives causing the club major difficulties in finalising its 2011 squad.
Telling the club specifically that he would be coming back, then failing to refute the regular stream of "rumours" to the contrary in the Ocker press.
Seemingly finally asking for a release mere days before he was due to return for training.
Seemingly not ensuring any NRL club with whom he or his agent held discussions contacted the Bulls and sought permission to hold such discussions, if he was not man enough to tell the Bulls himself.
That'll do to be going on with. Regardless of whether he was a saviour or was badly over-rated while he was here, which has no bearing on the issue of his conduct.

And we haven never we engineered a situation as outlined above with other players, in our favour?
Again, as fans, we are being pious.

Irrelevant.
This is about the conduct of the player, not the club. Why keep trying to move the argument?

Irrelevant? No it's not. It is entirely relevant. As a club trying to play paragon of virtue is sickly.

You again seek to divert the argument away from the payer's conduct. Or seek to excuse it.
Why?
What the club may or may not have done at other times in totally unrelated situations is completely irrelevant to a discussion about the player's conduct. And even if there WAS any kind of connection, would two wrongs make a right?

No it isn't.
The concept remains the same.
Again, the pious offerings are incredible.
The guy doesn't want to play here anymore, simples. Wheeling the Ironside sketch out is futile.

| Yes it is.
No it does not.
No they are not.
Not the point; and no it is not.
See...I can make blunt statements without wheeling anything out in support too. Any fool or zealot can do that.
You clearly see nothing wrong in his behaviour. I do. War of attrition is futile, and as I believe enough has now been said for others to form their own views I'll rest my case.

Others/MINOTAUR.JPG Crude and slow Whino, your attack was no better than that of a clumsy child.:Others/MINOTAUR.JPG |

| FFS he's gone. Lets get over it...
The only worry is getting a decent replacement now, hopefully we can negotiate some decent compo, recruit a Scrum half and lure Pryce back to the club. Easier said than done admittedly.

| I am gutted Orford is not coming back, IMO easily the best SH in SL last year. I agree his actions are way out of order, if the Bulls, or anyone, ended someone's contract, apart from breach, they would be paying compensation - likely the remainder of the contract & possibly any likely bonuses. You are in the same boat as last year now.

Feel free to do so.
I've no interest in people throwing around spurious legal offerings and taking the moral high ground when:
1) If we signed Cooper Cronk tomorrow under precisely the same circumstances as Orford to Canberra, there would be enough white bodily fluid being knocked out in Bradford to treble the population of China.
2) Legal witterings don't factor in any individuals emotional well-being or plain human reaction of "I just wish to leave because I'm more comfortable in place x"
Orford is leaving for whatever reason. I actually don't care, nor should anyone else. It happens in sport repeatedly. He doesn't wish to be here, as to why, who cares.

| I refer the honourable gentleman to the irrefutable argument put forward by Tigertot above. You would have an employer bound by a contract but not an employee? "Spurious legal offerings" my ârse.

I refer the pious gentleman to points one and two outlined above.
Legal offerings my @rse.

... then it would be a good signing. You appear to be missing the point entirely. Orford should have seen out his contract, but as he won't, then he can play anywhere he wants so long as we get paid. And since he won't play anywhere before a deal that we agree has been done, when he does play it will be for a club which has done the right thing and coughed up the brass. Why would you disparage that club's fans? A true non-point.

What? You'd have a a day for a month?
