I forgot Jacob Trueman as well.

Lest we forget Olbison ain't far off a testimonial year too, 2018 IIRC.

| Paul Clough, Dale Ferguson and Lee Gaskell on Huddersfield's radar in today's T&A.
I can't blame any of them, Clough has done well.

Well Clark has stated his goal is to play in SL sooner rather than later, so not surprised he's leaving.
Addy seems to have peaked as a player so maybe a change of team might see him improve.
Fleming hasn't really featured enough for anyone outside the coaching team to have much of an opinion on.
Crossley has started to pick up his game recently, but you have to wonder if that's down to a change in coach or the fact his contract is coming up and he needs to put himself in the shop window for next year
Lauaki - see Crossley. Also see him in Greggs on Sticker Lane like I did Friday afternoon
Uaisele - Bit of a waste as his appearances could be counted on the hand of a blind butcher but give we've players like Williams, Caro and Clare it's not surprising he's found it hard to get into the side
Mathers - waste of time and money. His signing definitely had a whiff of a "jobs for the boys" type signing given the Leeds old boy coaching staff. Big misstep by the club who tried to pass off his signing as "a big event" and I think that p'ed a lot of fans off as they were all calling for a half back
Walker - Shame if he's leaving as he hasn't seemed a bad player and as a squad player he might be worth keeping
Walshaw - again, another player who's not really been given much of a chance which is always going to be the case with such a large squad and, for the majority of its time, a coach who wouldn't rotate the team to make the most of such a large squad
As for the retained, Pitts, Ryan and Olbison - Good, Matty Blythe - Not so good
Still, it would seem we're getting the large clear out that we were promised at the end of last year so hopefully Smith can continue with his good work with signing and put together a better balanced squad for 2017

| After the plethora of props we signed up this season it seems most are buggering off! Only Sidlow and Kavanagh signed up for next season so far.

Not sure any of that suggests any real, 'inside knowledge'.
Pretty much all of it could have put together by quite a few on here - indeed some of it already has been. I'd guess, given the position we're in [and assuming the club can't really [ipublicly[/i admit we're most likely staying put in this division] it's about where we're likely to be in terms of retention if not recruitment. At the end of the day, we can't stop players seeking to advance their careers, so good luck to those who find SL clubs.

| If Rohan Smith can somehow claw Matty Blythe back to where he was in 2013 and 2014 as one of our better centres then I might just get off his back. I also fully expect Smith to rip up our defensive patterns in the off season and start again.

| So far if all the rumours are ture our squad should look something like below.
1. Moss
2. Clare
3. New centre
4. Welham
5. Caro/Ryan
6. Pryce
7. Chisholm
8. Kavanagh
9. 0'brien
10. Sidlow
11. Olbison
12. Pitts
13. Charnock?
14. Lumb
15. New prop
16. New prop
17. Haggerty
Thomas, Blythe, Keyes, Mellor, then sign up plenty of U19s.
When I saw that Clough was leaving i was gutted. But looking at that squad I'm a little optimistic. Ok we're losing a lot of players. Most we won't miss as they probably played more games for Keighley and Dewsbury than for us. Some men are key but it looks like we've the spine of the team sorted already with some absolute quality. When you think our spine at the beginning of thisbyear was Mathers/Addy/Gaskell... Next year it will be Moss/Pryce/Chisholm
Smith has already found some gems from the NRL in Chisholm and Moss. If he can find one or two more, we're looking like a much more balanced and probably better team.
Our hugely talented U19s can provide the depth.
Hopefully Smith has the money to spend.

| Purtell is signed up for next year too, unless I've missed something, although in all the time we've been crap the last few weeks I haven't read or heard anyone saying we're missing Purtell.

The only way we're missing Purtell is that it means Blythe is in the team. Purtell is less poor than Blythe. However neither are good enough any more and the position is probably our weakest now we have Chisholm to play 7.

| Think Purts is 'steady', more than a game breaker and, though that might [isound[/i to be a poor compliment, being 'steady' probably puts him well into the better half of our squad this season.

| Weren't we linked with Armstrong from Leigh at one stage? Might be some truth as we badly need a centre and he'd be an improvement on Blythe or Purtell.
Roger also hinted about us signing a winger and prop from London. Not sure why we'd need another winger unless Williams is off. We could always try Clare as a centre and then our wingers could be Caro/Ryan/London winger.
Not sure who the London prop could be. Slyney?
If we need some more forwards I would certainly be after Verlinden from Workington. He is a real handful and every time I've seen him play he has caused the opposition all sorts of problems. Would certainly benefit from going full time, a bit like Mitch Clark.
As for second rowers, we could try and sign Philbin or maybe even make a play for Mitch Achurch if he's willing to swallow his pride, take a pay cut and drop down a division.
