That can't happen.... can it?
Tha was my first thought too. Although it apparently compensation package agreed with Wakefield.
Leigh Beattie assistant.

| Leigh Beattie is assistant coach and Lee Smith Club Captain.
Happy with that. Think Leigh has been a top club man and whilst I think Lee Greenwood would have been a superb No.2 and potential Head Coach, I think the cost of Kear would have ruled that one out.

Haha was just coming to post this. Literally one of the first words out of his mouth love it
Also we paid a compensation package! With what? We only got 75k to build the squad with, how in the chuff can we afford compensation packages?

| We couldn't afford Toovey's salary but have now announced Kear and a compensation package. Go figure. Probably a better fit though.

| happy with Kear. Beattie as assistants a bit of a letdown TBH but I'm guessing Kear stretched budget.

Fair play to Michael Carter and Wakefield. Could have made it very difficult and instead have really gone up in my estimation with a classy response. Good luck to them this year and thanks for allowing John Kear the opportunity to join us.

| Maybe the compensation they've paid for him to Wakefield is why the promised extra assistant coach hasn't happened then. Just Leigh Beattie again.
T&A report of last fans' forum: "Geoff is going to take his time to make a decision and we respect that," said Chalmers, who confirmed that an assistant coach would be added to the existing staff for next year.
More lies.
But hey, I'm sure they'll hide those lies in the positivity of John Kear (which is a cracking appointment I agree)

Got to say I've missed the bit about compensation being paid?

As I posted elsewhere, if 500 people now decide to buy a Season Ticket before the early bird deadline - and its not impossible that could happen - that brings in £100,000 over the next few days. If most of those 500 decided to 'pay on the gate when they feel like going' then a big slice of that income would never come into the club.
I've no inside track on the club finances - but maybe they looked at the disappointing ST take up and thought they needed to do something to get the sales moving? Perhaps, in the end, they couldn't afford NOT to appoint Kear?
On the other hand, perhaps it's a Marc Green-style roll of the dice that will plunge us headlong into the abyss if we don't get promoted.
Anything is possible at the Bulls

| I'm a wee bit chuffed. I am not getting optimistic though. I've learnt my lesson, I thought the 2003 squad could be replaced and we'd rule for a further 10 years....that went well.....but there might just be a little green shoot worth keeping an eye on this time rather than a hopefully placed dollop of manure.
