Quote: EW for PM "Well I have just made my mind up - after having a season ticket for many years, I am not renewing this time. I will miss at least 2 games due to holidays. This has always been the case but I bought a season ticket anyway as it was a good deal. How do I know how good a deal it is this time? Apparently buying a season ticket would save me 'up to 49%' If that is the case, then they must know what the 'on the gate prices' are?

I will turn up as always next season whenever I can, whatever the weather.

But please listen Mr Chairman, if you are reading this - I sincerely thank you for saving my club, but do not take my support for granted and do not treat me like I was born yesterday.'"

Absolutely!

Here we have a complete mess with a "management" team comprising of two people who oversaw the last financial disaster.

One of which seems to have a finger in far too many aspects of the running of the club.

Trying to sell us season tickets while merrily handing out free tickets to mainly female "supporters" who then get in FOC???

Add to that, the free ticket recipients are dumb enough to advertise the fact all over social media.

They counted on 3000 ticket sales, so far sold 1200 - hence the desperation sets in. They just don't get it.

I have been going to Odsal since 1964 and had a ticket since 1995.

I am with EW for PM - not buying one - seen this before in the 80's and I am not going backwards for anyone.

Says it all when life long supporters are disenfranchised as you are.The people who run this Club have little or no affiliation or feeling for the fans. They cannot comprehend and are incapable of understanding.A backhanded slap in the face too often....I don't blame you sir.

With what they probably had to do to get those free tickets, they'd have been better off paying for them...

Are there really women who'd surrender their honour for a ticket to see us at home vs Batley?

It's like a plot-line out of the League of Gentlemen!

Next time you're at Odsal, have a look around, you'll answer your own question.

And yes I do have a feeling of guilt that I'm letting the club down - but they cant keep expecting to take money out of my pocket when they are delivering jack shoite.'"

I don't think my feeling is that I'm letting the club down, largely because it's the club's own doing (in it's current form). I do however feel disappointed that I'm not going to see so many games this year, especially after having had a season ticket for what I think is 16 straight years (would have been longer had I not worked shifts previous to that). But I've just come to a point where I've had enough and need to do something about it. Acting with my feet so to speak, is my choice of action.

My biggest fear is that by getting out of the habit of going to Odsal every other weekend, I'm going to find something else to do with my time. And then when it comes round to me no longer feeling like they're trying to rip me off, I'm just not going to be as interested any more. It's an even bigger fear for me that others will find the same thing happens to them, and fans are effectively lost for good.

Sadly - in 2007, my mate and myself had a meeting with Peter Hood to discuss this exact issue - and at the time we had dipped below 10,000 average so I was worried icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

After an hour trying to get the point across, he showed us a CGI of the completed Odsal Sports Villlage because when it happened - the crowds would come back.. icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

11 years on - they want to sell 3000 tickets and only manage 1200 - and as you say - people find another way to spend free time and its a hell of job to get them back - if you ever do!

The above laughter is manic of course..

Does anyone no the best attendance in league 1 last season? Guessing someone against Toronto. I think if we sell 1500 season tickets in total we will be doing well.

These are the figures for 2017

Toronto 6,639
Newcastle 979
York 887
Barrow 853
Keighley 742
Whitehaven 664
Workington 654
Doncaster 577
London Skolars 473
Hunslet 421
Coventry 401
North Wales 377
South Wales 229
Gloucester 205
Oxford 152
Hemel 117

Newcastle get a big boost from their Friday night game before Magic - their regular average is quite a bit lower. Barrow have been promoted. Basically if you take Toronto out of the equation - and we need to, as they won't be in our League - then nobody has much of 'crowd'.

I doubt that anyone is going to bring any away fans - possibly Keighley will being a couple of minibuses, just for the novelty value, otherwise handfuls.

York City Knights had an attendance of 2,601 at Bootham Crescent - soccer stadium - v Toronto

I think the National League 2/League 1 attendance record was achieved by Oldham v Celtic Crusaders in 2007.

The crowd was over 4k

I got an email from the club yesterday pointing out that I may not have renewed my ticket and then a telephone call this evening asking if I had renewed and was intending to.

Me and my dad are off up on Saturday to renew. No reason for us not to really. Luckily we will be able to make all the home games so may as well get it sorted rather than pay the increased price next week. I’ll be paying with my credit card though!

The guy on the phone said we will be able to collect at the event on Sunday and that he had been told not long before the call that the new head coach would likely be presented to the fans.

Yeah. 8,456 at home against Doncaster in the League 1 Super 8's. Their lowest was 5,646 at home in the regular rounds against York City Knights.

I think if we can take a few to York we can beat the 2,602 they had against Toronto. And we will 100% beat the Keighley away crowds that Toronto set at 1,128 and 922. However if we can average 1,500-2,000 for our home games then I think we have done very well considering.

To be honest, I think that if we have over 1K season tickets sold and presumably get a fair few 'walk-ups', then we'll be doing very well in this division. Let's not forget that we've downsized the wages bill by going largely semi-pro so we don't [ineed[/i the same income even if that would have been nice - we're not the 'famous Bradford Bulls' anymore.

If we get past January and then see some encouraging signs over the early season then things may even improve. I think trust is easy to lose and difficult for the club to win back, but if things start going well (smoothly will do for now..) then it's hardly a great commitment for ex-fans to turn up to the odd game and see how it goes. Hopefully we've hit bottom and get better than the 'dead cat' bounce..
