Craven District Council are throwing building money at turning the town hall into an entertainment venue whilst withdrawing their grant towards Settle Victoria Hall running costs, likewise Settle Swimming Pool built by donations has had its grant withdrawn whilst money gets ploughed into the swimming and leisure facilities in Skipton. Thats why Shipley Council built the Shipley pool as soon as they knew they were about to be turned into Bradford Met.

Whilst I agree, are there actually Any realistic alternatives in the short or medium term? New stadium is not going to happen, Horsfall would be an admission of permanent residence in the lower leagues, out of the city wouldn't carry enough fans with it, and in the city vp is the only option, which might cost us more than odsal. I've no idea of the exact costs involved with odsal compared to vp.

If odsal shut tomorrow, vp is the only option. I'd be fine with vp (pitch length issues to be sorted) if we had a genuine groundshare with equal input and not just a barely tolerated tennant. But I don't see that happening, except maybe if lawn is the new owner.

Lawn was quoted last week saying when he wanted a ground share in his City days, it was in a new stadium built at the Odsal site, not at VP. So I suspect moving to VP isn't a likely option with him in charge either.

We pay about £70k a year to use Odsal IIRC.

It's the upkeep that's the big expense.

I think the whole situation has changed since those days. The simple truth is that if we're to stay in this division, or god forbid, even drop into league 1 then Odsal isn't going to be viable in the medium or long term - and with league1 option you can say short, medium or long term. We're just battered by freezing winds these days and the days when we had the choice are definitely numbered, imo.

in an ideal world at odsal, with the lease owned by the new owner and investment coming in to develop...
