Just like Adam Brook, then.

| Quote: Bulliac "I seem to recollect reading that Davies had been "released" back in July, though I can't remember where to or under what terms.'"
think assumption was that davies and probably ulugia were de-registered in july to allow signing of ryan and Nielsen on quota. Was never actually announced as such by club though.

| On the subject of more props - can I just say that I place more emphasis on dog and determination than i do on sheer size. This is because I (sadly) go back to watching forwards like Jimmy Thompson and Colin Forsyth, who were not big even by 80s standards, but would walk into the pack any SL team today or any day. Because you can't teach what they had.
Also i am not up-to-speed on our youg players, but each new season the young forwards are another year older, bigger and uglier and they do grow at an alarming pace nowadays - do we have any obvious breakthrough candidates?

| Here if only we could solve our recruitment problem at a stroke, by signing Alan Redfearn, Colin Forsyth and Jimmy Thompson, all three on this great pic, Redfearn throwing a reverse pass to Forsyth who crashed through two defenders to score a signature try, Jimmy in his trademark headband running the other line.

Get Stephenson, Mumby and Grayshon signed up while you're at it! Would probably pass on Gary van Bellen and Bridges, though.

One of the strange foibles of RL back then was that in the case of a colour clash, it was the HOME team which changed shirts, not the visitors, so it's not immediately obvious who we were playing, but I don't thinks it's Saints as we'd still have been using Yorks and Lancs leagues in those days, so odds on it's a Yorkshire ground.
Even stranger than the home team having to change was the fact that some folk actually complained when it was changed to the away side.....

Not so, actually. It must have been 1979-80, which was the only season all 7 of the players to be seen there played for the club, and that season, we were in division 1. My money would be on either Salford in their regular kit, or Hull KR in their change strip.

Bridges? You'd pass on Bridges? Tell you what, when you needed to be hard to be a hooker, there were none harder than Bridges, and as good a hooker as any around. I suppose though the role has disappeared. Like his hair.

| I can tell the young uns something else too, there'd be no giving up and conceding 40 in the second half if Jimmy Thompson was on your case
