You don't hear us complaining that we have to pay less to go in your ground ,do you?'"
No. If I didn't have an ST I would pay £12 (concession) at The Shay. At Odsal I have to pay £20 as concessions don't start until age 65 (60 at The Shay).
Anyway, I made my choice and am going to the game. I just wanted to state my point, not have an ongoing argument about it. The money is no big deal, its the principle.

| To be honest I think Championship ticket prices are a bit steep.

Didn't Mr Green say our pricing was based on our aspiration to get back to SL rather than life in the Championship?

Yes, I'm not saying that we shouldnt try to maximise our revenue, or return to the crazy prices of the past. But its likely that there will be quite a few fairly one sided games in the next few months. I don't really see the less committed fans shelling out £20+ to watch us rack up points. And I think its fairly important to keep the fanbase as wide as possible so as to keep those fans interested for when the big games come round. If we set the ticket prices too high we might end up with a very loyal band of 4-5,000 fans but very few casual fans.

But then if you're right, what IS the cutoff price which you are confident these less committed fans WOULD shell out? That is, taking one specific "less committed" fan, are you saying there is a lower price at which he will say, "Oh sod it, I wasn't going to go to watch the Bulls rack up points but at that price I think I will"?
Using very rounded figures, to get a similar gate income to 4200 @ average of around £20 you're gonna need pushing 6000 if you drop the price by a fiver. But is a fiver really enough to pretty much guarantee gates of 6000? I really can't see it, and of course the lower you drop it, the worse it gets. Then again, your theory assumes that the "less committed fans" WILL attend SOME games - against say Leigh, or Halifax, maybe - and so you'd be doing yourself in those games as they may get 6000 - but would have done so at a higher price, so you have to factor in that you're doing yourself on the more attractive fixtures.

Exactly the problem FA.
I think it's sufficient to say that Mr Hood went for a short drive down that avenue [or a street very close by...] and, IIRC it didn't quite work out.

| The thing is, Marc Green and his team have clearly looked at what the crowds dropped to by the end of last season and realised that's the core level of support the team has.
The people complaining about the cost seem to be the ones who only go to Odsal maybe once or twice a year, so really it seems that if they wanted cheaper tickets, they should have gotten up to Odsal more often last year.
When we had the cheap season tickets, it seems that the plan was to make up the shortfall by having 10k people in the ground every other week spending money to make up the shortfall. Trouble was, far too many of those cheap ticket holders only showed up for the big games. If you want a cheap ticket, then the club needs to be assured that you're going to turn up each week, otherwise they're out of pocket. Yes, the current pricing is steep for the level we're playing at, but that money is going towards building a SL standard team.

I'm not saying cut it by a fiver. I'm just going on my gut reaction when I turned up for the first game of the season and saw the price. Which was "that's a bit steep". I suppose my expectation was that it would be £19, just below the psychological £20 price barrier.

| I'm not saying there's zero psychology in RL ticket pricing but basically the argument would be that a significant number of people would be "conned" into deciding yes I will buy a ticket at £19.99, not realizing that it's actually £20. I presume the obsession with 99 must serve some marketing purpose but personally thing it has been overdone to death and is just viewed as "required" now. I mean what is the point in advertising a car, say at £19,999? In some shops pretty much every sodding article is something.99p and I can't be the only one who just finds this irritating. But not as irritating as diesel being invariably x.9p a litre. What bollox. Yes if you buy 10 litres then it will be a whole 1p off but that's only if you believe that a pump can accurately measure 1p worth of fuel, but what is the assumption here? That unless you offer 0.1p a litre off your fuel nobody will buy it? Really? So a garage in Wibsey will sell at say 117.9 whereas a Tesco down the road will sell at 116.9. Would people desert Tesco for Wibsey if they sold at 117?
