You're suggesting we "do away with" the forward pass rule? That will really shake things up

| Quote: isaac1 "Maguires tries came off the back of poor defence up the middle, the a tacklers and markers not doing their jobs. in short, the big guys were fatigued and langley wasnt there! There wasnt a massive creative difference between the two sides, Leeds just exploited our weaknesses well. If leeds had been hit by injuries like we had, we'dve been able to do the same to them!
I hate excuses, but this time we have them. Not the officials, but a lack of numbers due to injuries to Diskin, Kopczack and Walker!'"
Well put Isaac1, Leeds created, we lacked as on many occasions this season, on their line. Koppy only lasting 30 seconds had a huge impact on the game.
The breakaway game winning try was so obviously going to happen, Bulls were slow facing up and got caught out.

| Couldn't fault us for lack of effort or commitment, but have to agree we rarely looked like manufacturing a break or creating too much for that matter. Lack of pace again, particularly in the halves is obvious.

| I disagree. People seem to forget that we actually scored 22 points, Leeds deservedly won the match but did not deserve as many as 37. It wasn't as bad an effort as some are making out. That we didn't score more was in fair part due to some very good Leeds defence, especially in the second half.
We were adversely affected by injuries and that is just stating a fact not an excuse. Langley was a big hole to fill, but that is what you have squads for, losing Kopczak OTOH after a few seconds and having to therefore play the entire game without him gave Leeds a fair leg up.
Gale is taking some stick but unfairly so in my opinion, because where your pack is being got the better off (which would be less likely with Koppy and Langley on the field) the halfbacks have much less chance to be on the front foot.
In the second half some of the several defensive lapses were due to too many tired players with effectively no remaining way to spell any of them, and especially in that heat, this must have taken its toll.
I also don't buy into the "lack of pace" theory, defensively the trick is not to let the Burrows and McGuires of this world break through the central defensive line in the first place. If they do, and you are playing a team like Leeds, Saints, Wire or Wigan who will have the support there in spades, that's what costs you the points, not lack of pace.
It was overall a disappointing performance in some ways, but taking everything into account, I'm not that upset by it, and much of what we did in adversity was actually good.

| For me the differences were the obvious injury situation & McGuire's uncanny ability to always be there supporting any half chance, plus his added ability to finish off that half chance. I'm struggling to see why so many are bagging Gale, for a large part of the game I thought he tried manfully to create something without having the quality around him that Leeds had. Gale is not one to die wondering.

| Quote: Ferocious Aardvark "No your comment is nonsense. It would have been hard enough in any weather to be left down to 1 fit sub but it is stating the obvious that it is greatly harder to do 80 minutes in baking heat than on a cool day.
Also nobody is "blaming " the heat for the defeat. They are pointing out what any reasonable person would have to agree that in the above circumstances it was a very significant factor for us.'"
You know, I struggle to think back far enough to remember when we actually just lost to a better side. Leeds were better than us on the day and that really is all there is to it. Other teams get injuries (no really!) and have to play in the heat too.....
We had plenty of chances to get back into the gane at 24-18 but we blew chance after chance due to poor decision making, handling errors (far too many of them) and a complete lack of invention when near the line. The heat and fatigue from having less interchange options may well have hit towards the end of the game but we had plenty of chances (including a 12 point lead at one stage) to get enough of a lead in order to cope with such.
But a mixture of clueless attack, good Leeds defence and utterly rotten Bradfords defence cost us more than any ref, weather or injuries IMO.

| Losing Langley really wesakened us up the middle and around the ruck, IIRC Langley is our top marker tackler. With Burrow coming on we were vulnerable and it showed.
Losing three players to injury was a bad blow and it showed when we ran out of gas. Fatigue affects attack as well as defence and I think that caused a lot of our indecision near the line. We lacked a bit of patience when we needed to be clinical.
Funnily enough it was like the Leeds vs Saints game last week in that McDermott messed up his interchange and his side ended up running out of gas in the final quarter. A similar thing happened to us here due to injury.
On Gale I thought he did alright in attack considering the pack was on the back foot and he lacked quality runners. Defensively that miss that led directly to the try was disappointing, but looking at his defensive record for Quins we should expect that occasionally. I do agree that Jeffries has been out of sorts a bit but like has been said he's hardly the model of consistency.
On Pryce I was disappointed with his lack of workrate. With us struggling with injury I would've hope to have seen him take plenty of drives but he hardly seemed to bother. On Walker it was a shame to seem him get another knock but I thought he was blowing a bit anyway, I think it might have been a mistake to leave Addy out who must have been fitter (unless Potter knows something we don't).

McD tried the old McBanana trick of picking a sub & not using him against Saints. Worked a treat for McD as well.

I did my screaming at Pryce routine again, but this time from the safety of my settee. He handled everything that came to him competently, but the 6'6", 18 stone winger couldn't be d to do any more. Stealing a wage.

Really? Maybe it's because you never go to games. Why, just this weekend gone, we were beaten by a considerably better side. Have you suffered a recent blow to the head, perhaps?
