Quote: Ewwenorfolk "If Scruton continues his slow start to the campaign and we get dominated in the forwards again, I'd like to see Burgess in the 19 to add size to our pack.'"
I think he needs a week on the sidelines while Burgess is given a go. He must be ready for the first grade now?

Quote: jonty23 "No chance against Castleford unless the defence is tightened up. Last week there appeared to be no cohesion, no passion, and no game plan. Problem that I see is that to start with we do not have a good defensive fullback,Sykes ,Kearney, Royston, Halley are not good defensively. Come back Keith Mumby!. I suggest the powers to be at Odsal and any one else interested to watch Featherstone's Ian Hardman in tomorrow night's televised match against Halifax. Last year he was the best defensive fulback in that division by a country mile.
I am not too sure about the captaincy. Although Lynch is a good player, he does seem to have the power to inspire. Elima was the French captain, why not give him the chance?
Finally Ah van is not a bad tackler, it is just that he is too slow to get into a position to make the tackle. Oh, and another experienced halfback such as Handforth at Batley would be not a bad idea.
All comments welcome. John.'"

Hardman is not a SL player. He showed that at Saints.

The fullback is the last line of defence. It is like saying a goalkeeper does not need to make saves. A good defensive fullback or goalkeeper instils confidence that if the line is breached, there will be someone who can be relied on to save the situation.
Another example was Platt in his last year at Castleford. The best attacking fullback in the game they were saying. What they were not saying was he was the worst defensively. Castleford had the most points against and were relegated.
I just hope none of the Odsal coaches think the same as you.

When Hardman was at Saints he was only a teenager. I still think he would make the transition. Watch the match next week and then let me have your comments. By the way he is still only 25.

We really should beat you, We are so well drilled this year, And your defence is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

But i am rather worried. Think you may hit back, And our first away game. We will see.

If we beat you well, I think it will mean after 10 SL rounds, Cas will be 10 from 10. Confidence is high, Some big players to come back. And we are playing very well

No it will mean after 5 rounds Cas will be 5 from 5.

Forgive Dettori, he's getting excited.

We could be 10 from 10, I'd agree. But I'd take 3 wins out of the next 6, really.

Just got to keep focus on the game in hand and going to the Grattan will be no easy feat.

I think and expect that we'll get a 'bounce' from last week.

I'm expecting (hoping?) a win, but I confess to not being confident. A good start is essential, we simply can't afford to let Castleford get a roll on with a couple of early tries. Confidence will be fragile, and we need to win the early arm-wrestle and hopefully get some points on the board to boost it.

I suppose it is something of a modicum of progress after last season that we expect the Bulls to bounce back. Last year we'd have simply settled for another capitulation.

It would be good to see someone different giving the usual suspects a run for their money.

What's Cas' injury list like at the moment?

It's early days and it'll take time to gel. I'm just looking for the players to give a good account of themselves.

If we push on early then we should get on a roll, If the likes of Lynch, Hargreaves, Elima and Whitehead man up and dominate then we will probably win, however Cas are not a team that turn up to Odsal and get beat 50-0. Gone were the days of beating the likes of Cas and Huddersfield, now we must focus on getting to the playoffs which means winning as many games as possible, hopefully a 3rd win against Cas.

A goalkeeper shouldn't have to make saves. The defence should be good enough to keep the shots on target to 0. same goes for full backs.

The reality is that never happens but you can't slate a full back that can't tackle when he scores and creates much more tries than he lets past. You can't ever defend your line thinking that the full back will bail you out if you make a balls of it.

rlPotter to ring in the changes against Casrl

Interesting to note that Royston was left out of the team vs Hudds due to a shoulder injury, and Langley is to be assessed on Friday to see if he's fit to play.

Believe it or not I actually think with cas having a good youth policy see this as a game we could use bateman and donno if fit enough and maybe addy. think whitehead needs to start from bench looks jaded and at minute is topping missed tackles in league and high on errors think he is knackered and needs resting.
