You can't really complain if a team plays poorly and wins though. I can't imagine in any sport a team can consistently play poor and win, unless they are just that much better than the competition around them. On that note i'd say most fans rate how a team performs based upon results anyway.

| The Board is probably doing right in waiting, if it means we lose McNamara then so be it. We may yet fall well out of the play-offs, and if that happens everybody will be re-joining the Macca out party. If we wait too long, we'll need a new coach, which we'll be partly dreading and partly looking forward to.
Realistically, there wouldn't be as many candidates as we would like. They need to be affordable, wanting to come here, and willing to (probably) work under the SC.
Ellery Hanley
Brian Mac
Jimmy Lowes
Shaun McRae
Ian Millward
Karl Harrison
Matt Calland
Brian McLennan (if Leeds finish out of the top 8??)
Steve Folkes (unlikely)
Jason Taylor (poss)
Graham Murray (highly unlikely)
Out of those, Folkes, Taylor & Millward would be my preferences, but I really think if Macca goes we'll plump with McDermott, Lowes or Calland.

| What is Jason Taylor up to now?
If we did need a new coach he might well be worth considering if the sums balanced up. He has worked under Brian Smith and actually took over from him at Parra when he left Smith left mid-season.
Sounds like he was fairly well thought of in NRL before his incident with Fa'alogo. A pretty young coach who needs to get his career back on track but also has a reasonable amount of experience as a Head Coach. Perhaps a realistic target if we need to recruit a new coach for 2011 or sooner.

I put possible, with ££ being the main reason. Any young, talented Aussie coach won't come cheap.
One I didn't include is Michael Hagan, assistant to the Queensland side IIRC.
I didn't even put Noble on the list as it would be a step backwards.

| Few other outside bet Aussies ?
Warren Ryan
Phil Gould
Ricky Stuart - He needs to get his career back on track after a dreadful 2009.
Brad Fittler
Whoever we choose, it could well be someone not thought about in this thread, but he needs to be the right man to continue Macca's great work on the youth side of things. Hopefully a young coach aswell as the game is always changing.

| I'm sure if you asked some of the Fax fans what they thought of Calland at the moment they wouldn't give you a great response.

I suppose I was thinking of teams who you would expect to win, winning but playing poorly. Wigan under John Dorahay won everything (IIRC) but he was shown the door as they didn't do it convincingly enough, I remember Cas under DVDV winning something like their first 7 games in the 80's but never with conviction & that soon faded, Wire under numerous coaches (DVDV again included).
