Lynchy told me he didn't think being Captain was that important and said it was more a "Figurehead" as all the Squad took responsibility on the field!
Well I have to disagree on this one with him,. A Captain is the focal point for the team, the go to man for answers especially when things are going wrong, the man who represents the Coach out there. Lynchy and Langers were not impressive with their Captaincy stints albeit with an underperforming team, but thats when a Captains worth should come to the fore. Deacs never seemed to be able to drag the team forward which was no suprise as his own form was consistently poor. I hope the Ox is persuaded to take the Captaincy, I understand his reluctance but Macca needs a Leader on the field as much as as he needs good players on the field.

i stand by my earlier comments regarding Orford getting the captaincy. he may have turned it down before joining the club but that's likely due to him not wanting to ruffle any feathers or otherwise upset his new team mates before he's had chance to meet up with them.
but he's still the best choice for the job. he's a leader and an organiser

Halley needs to smile more, he's coming across as a moody bugger, and gives the feeling he's not getting his dues, reminds me of someone else with a similar attitude a few years ago, so he had better talk to Reardon about wrong attitudes and how it can derail your life
