Suggest you don't jump to conclusions till you see:
1. Whether he has indeed been signed AND has obtained Visa etc
2. What position/s (assuming 1 is OK) he is actually going to play. Might be 6 even or doing a Iestyn at Leeds at 1 then 6, with Halley 2 then 1 for all we know?
3. How the team as a whole pans out.
Just a thought?

I suspect Kearney has been signed to play 6 ([iif [/ihe has signed and does arrive as Adeybull points out), then 1 when/if needed.
My guess at a first choice and where others can and will rotate/fill in;
1. Halley/Platt/Kearney/Sykes
2. Sheriffe/Halley
3. Nero/Crookes
4. Sykes/Walker
5. Walker/Semi/A.N.Other(Rudd? Reardon?)
6. Kearney/Sykes
7. Deacon/?

Think you can write Semi out of the equation...

Yes, I think you're right. I wonder if we'll take a punt on Rudd? Or if the Reardon/Raynor rumours have any credence? I suspect not.

Trust me man, Halley is playing wing next season. Kearney is going to Full Back, Sykes is staying at stand off.

Maybe, I can certainly see the argument for that. But we have 2 full backs on the books already for 2010 and only 1 scrum half and a who has converted quite well to play 6. I'd say we need a half (and a 6 at that) more than we need someone else who can play FB.
We know this, McNamara must know this too, Kearney can and has played both so I see the logic pointing more to him being signed as a 6, as a direct replacement for Jefferies. Just my guess though from what I've read and heard. We'll have to wait a while to find out I suppose. And on current form I'd be happy with Sykes at 6, but can he maintain it?
Either way, my point from another post was that if the signings are as rumoured (which is still a big if) then Kearney, Walker, Sykes, Platt, Halley can all play more than one position and will do as form and injury dictate - we're just discussing where they might start, but who at the start of this season would have predicted we'd be going into our most important game of the season with Platt as a good safe option in the ? Not me for one. So you never know.

I think this is the main point of your post. Yes we do have two full backs on the books for 2010, but we only have one winger, that's why I think Halley will be shifted there and Kearney going straight in at FB.

If we have one winger (semi gone and if Walker comes he plays ) then you're possibly right. I was going with the idea of Walker/Reardon/Rudd/A.N.Other playing wing so then not needing Halley there and able to keep at FB where he's done well.
Its a good example of why we need to wait and have the whole recruitment picture confirmed before we know if we're happy with any individual bit of it.

True we will have to wait, I see no harm in speculating though. It's just the way I see things going, even if we do sign Kearney and Walker.
1. Kearney.
2. Sheriffe.
3. Walker
4. Nero
5. Halley
6. Sykes.
I cant see it going any other way because personally I believe, Reardon and Raynor are wide of the mark.
