Only it didn't happen outside a pub and he wasn't convicted of any sort of criminal offense as a result. Therefore to compare the possibility of signing a player who has been convicted of a criminal offense is not the same as signing a player who has simply been a thug on the pitch but has no criminal convictions is absurd.

| This is like the Fielden thread. People seem to want to live in the past (and understandably at the moment). But like Fielden I am not sure that getting Reardan back is a positive. H has shown that he is injury prone and didn't set the world alight when he was fit at Wire.

In further developments, I've heard today that his agent has approached the Bulls and Hull FC about a possible move. The Bulls are yet to get back to him.
Interesting..'"
difficult one really.setting aside his off field issues Reardon is a bradford lad and only left because wire dangled a big wage which we werent prepared to match. he's a former international who can cover wing/fullback and maybe ?.
on the negative side he's proven to be very injury prone since he left and seems to, at best, stopped improving. Also the way he stopped trying in the matches following his signing for wire left a bit of a bad taste.
if he's cheap enough he might give us some more depth and would count as a homegrown player, however it would be a risk and how many fullback.wingers do we need?
regarding the off field stuff, from whats been reported it wasnt as bad as greg bird's alledged offence and plenty on here were prepared to accept him as a bulls player. Also have to wonder whether reardons case would have even gone to court if it didnt involve a couple of relatively high profile RL players.
my position would be we shouldnt bring him back as he isnt a significant improvement over platt/halley and isnt worth the potential bad publicity

I like the look of Halley but McNamara does not seem to fancy him.
Is it just because you have Platt (needs to improve decision making)

thing is halley brings a different set of problems to the fullback position. seems a lot of people only remember the good things he does at fullback and gloss over the errors, same with sykes, whereas with platt they only remember the mistakes and gloss over the good things. Im not convinced that either halley or platt are the long term solution to fullback but platt has shown a steady improvement all season and been close to motm a couple of times (obviously ignoring the slip and the attempted pass behind the line on sunday) and deserves to continue at fb for the moment. Halley should be getting more gametime as well but think he'd be more use taking sheriffes spot or at least sharing it off the bench.

| I was pleased when Reardon joined us because I thought he was a good player at the Bulls, although a fella I worked with who supported Bradford reckoned he was another McAvoy, had early promise but stood still rather than improving with experience.
I can't remember him standing out much in his first two seasons with us (the latter two have been a write off with injury) but one thing in Reardon's credit, every year (when he's fit) he's one of the top tackle busters in SL.
Probably find out more on April 23 when him and Pryce get sentenced.

Not a bad assessment that, IMO.

Two wingers sharing a position seems a waste of an interchange spot.

given the general shortage of backs in the squad and the fact one of the wingers can also cover injuries to fullback and maybe halfback at a pinch it may be our best option. alternative is crookes on bench who can only cover spots or give hyde or horton a shot.

Explains why Deacs over the last few years has frantically tried to get rid of his schoolboy cutie look.
