WOW, A couple of good games. Chris Feather also had a couple of good games, was he a good player for us aswell?
He was attrocious in quite a few aswell, and the fact that he only played half a dozen or so with mixed results says to me he wasnt a good player for us.
Beaver Beaver, no that is not me. It's MacbullyBoazza.

We don't know yet, because we don't know how much notice the club had of his intentions. This is important in finding a replacement. I challenge you to show me an employment contract for any senior position that doesn't have some such stipulation at least in spirit. Your tales of labour mobility in a transient low-skilled migrant economy don't really make a good analogy.

This.
Also, whilst the club have been saying in legal speak for a while they expect him back, this surely is not the case privately, and contingency plans will already have been looked at I'm sure.
But its far far from ideal with the timings and Matt Orford, whatever else we may or may not think, the fact is one of our current key players has left his team in a really difficult position, which he could have avoided if he had handled the situation better, and for that if nothing else I don't thank him.

| Once again pious fans reign.
Matt, via his agent, has requested a release. And? Who wouldn't leave their current employment for a more attractive option?
As I've said on numerous occasions, he has always been hugely overrated. A poor mans Brett Kimmorley and he won't be missed.
The interesting element is the next step. NRL clubs are renowned for not paying any kind of compensation whether it's requested or otherwise (bar Sam Burgess) nor are they a great respector of our contract system. I can't see the club securing anything like the amount they will be thinking for a 32 year old. Not a chance.

He was a good player for you... but he got an offer to do the same job in a better place.
And at the end of the day... being a pro Rugby League player is a JOB.
I don't know what job you do for a living... lets pick one at random... you can work in a factory in Ireland making dresses.
So you work in this dress making factory in Ireland...you earn a good amount of money. They have told you that you can live in a nice Irish house, the beer in Ireland is good, the food is great and the dress making factory will probably be the best dress making company in the whole of Ireland. So you tell them you will work for them making these dresses for 3 or 4 years because it sounds great.
But you find it rains every day, the accommodation they have given you to live in isn't that crash hot, you cant understand what the locals say, the food is cráp, the beer is vile and the company you work for turn out to be pretty poor at dress making.
You feel fed up.
Some one then comes up to you and says 'hey Aaron... come and work in my dress making factory back in bradford. The money wont be quite as good... but at least you will be able to understand what the locals are saying, you will be able to drink warm bitter in pubs again and you will be with your family and friends. Come home son. We will even throw a whippet and a flat cap in for you.'
Would you go?
Of course you would.
What the Ox has done is no different.
Build a bridge and get over it.'"
Your really are quite pathetic.
The big difference is that Orford signed an employment contract for three years. Compared to maybe one month for most employees. And what he got paid reflected that commitment.
In the real world, people expect you to give the contractual notice when leaving a job.
But then, you never show any signs of living in the real world.

| Barry's a troll, nothing more.
He's not even an Aussie if you believe some folk.
Either way he's a sad act with one joke that's as thin as the England backline options.

Matt Diskin had a contract. Didn't stop us signing him or asking the question. As we have done with a number of players. It's what happens in sport.
Quote: Adeybull "In the real world, people expect you to give the contractual notice when leaving a job..'"
He has effectively given notice. We don't need to dress it up with terminology. It's the off season, he has "requested" a release (not demanded) and is awaiting the club's response. I don't see what Orford has done wrong at all.
We simply don't want players in a Bulls shirt who have no desire to be here.

| Diskin did not break his contract. Orford has said he wishes to break his. One presumes if Bulls will not release him he will break it anyway. One way or the other.
Orford should have given two years' notice. He has not. He has said he wants out now.
And you don't see what he has done wrong?
I agree with your last point - which of course is the ace in his hand.

Indeed.
Its like an infestation on the VT. Seems no way to clear it out.

Thats your opinion.
But at least unlike a lot of people I don't resort to name calling.
Sure you have got the jack with Matt Orford for not honouring his contract.
Maybe he should, maybe he shouldnt.
But the fact is... things like this happen all the time.
So you expect him to give 3 years notice do you?
If the bloke was switched on (which I'm sure his agent was if he wasn't) he will have a get out clause in his contract anyway.
Seriously.
The way you guys are bagging him you would think he was responsible for the Halabja massacre or something.
He is a rugby league player.
He played for your club.
He didnt like it in England.
He wanted to go home.
It's hardly a hanging offence is it.
sheesh.

| Jeez the air must be thin up there on that pedastal of yours Barry. Let's just get this straight, you think the way that Orford (undoubtedly with that turd Mimis pulling at least some of the strings) has conducted himself is ok?
Had Orford asked for a release when he went home "to recover from his injury" at least the club would have known where it stood formally and been in a position to put proper contingency plans into place to sign another halfback for 2011. As it is, what little contact he has been bothered to make with the club has been reported to be positive comments about his return and he's waited until the 11th hour to request his release, leaving the club he so happily milked for his salary in the lurch.
And is there any reason why you choose to fill half a page with your stupidly spaced holier-than-thou posts?

| Way to over-react Baz.
Think you've reeled yourself in there.
Now run along.
Notice the double line spacing.
I like your style.
But not much.

I just think it's a bit of an over reaction by a lot of people.
The bloke didn't honour his contract. He wanted to go and work back in Australia. Hell.. who could blame him??!! England is no fun to live and work in! Thats why I'm outta here on December 21st myself!!
It happens all the time... whatever business you work in. Contracts mean nothing these days.... rightly or wrongly. A clever lawyer can always find a loophole.
But the facts are Matty Orford was a good player for you in the admittedly short time he played for your club. You liked him. I'm sure a lot of you sung his name. Now you think he is on the same level as Osama Bin Laden
It's not like he set fire to the stadium and robbed your chairmans wife before he left. Why bag him out the way you are? All he has done is decide he doesnt like it in England anymore.
Anyway... I've said my piece.
Good luck for next year.
