It always bemuses me how fans think that they have a right to spout abuse at any player they want they act all hurt and horrified if they get a taste of their own medicine. It is ridiculous.

I don't agree. These are full time professionals not two-bit saturday leaguers.

1. Winding up opposition players (and the officials) behind the posts or near the touchline is part and parcel of the game and always has been. Over the years I must say I've heard some extremely funny wind-ups but the general aim is the fans doing their part to help their own team. Nothing better than a rugby league wag. I don't like it going so far as excessive swearing and malicious, but there are stewards who should act if it does. You can't really believe that it would be in order for a verbally abused player to turn around and engage in a verbal slanging match with a fan? Really??

2. Players can't and mustn't react provocatively to stuff the fans say. They ought to be used to it, although I understand that Leigh players aren't used to away fans in such numbers so maybe the occasion got the better of a couple of them. They didn't really do anything very much though, plus you have to make allowances that at that stage they were really pumped up, and whilst I'd agree that the throw of the ball at the crowd (not just 'into the crowd') was a bad idea, it is hardly a felony. And I've from time to time heard the occasional very good put-down back at a fan from seasoned players who aren't a bit fazed by name-calling etc.

Seems like a good point to re-tell my true story of the best put-down I can remember, some old-guy in a flat cap stood next to us on the touchline after a Wigan score, Shaun Edwards stood nearby as they waited to take the conversion. "Edwards!! If my dog wor as ugly as thee, I'd shave its arsse an' make it walk backwards!"

I have to say I’m truly surprised at this thread, it seems to me that most of the people associated with the Bulls, are more into blaming Leigh for everything rather than looking at their own failings.

I can’t be bothered looking back but someone said something along the lines of ‘Leigh were desperate to win it and been building up for it’, now if I was a Bradford fan I’d be more concerned why my team didn’t have the same approach, why they weren’t desperate to win it and building up for it.

Yes of course it’s only the first game of the season and in the whole scheme of things it may not mean very much at the end, but shouldn’t you lot be more concerned with, how did we mange to throw away a 20-6 lead? What happen to our defence that we got beat 30- 4 in the second half? Why did Leigh look so much fitter than us at the end? You know the things that actually happen on the pitch like how come Brierley scored so easily not what he did with the ball after? How did FFMM a man I've no doubt they were told to watch managed to run 40m so easily?

I genuinely have a soft spot for Bradford my son got knocked out there playing for the college and the way your clubs background staff looked after him I will always be grateful, good luck for the rest of the season, and buck your ideas up this division needs at least two strong teams come the Super 8’s.
