I guess, in an attempt to 'excuse' any poor decisions, the officials, just like the players, have to get up to speed at the start of a season.

I had a brief chat to Matt Thomason (he's reffed a few SL games now) immediately after the end on Sunday. I asked him how he would have fancied 'controlling' the game. His reply was that he would prefer to wait until later in the season, when Bradford and Leigh had "settled down" before he took charge of either of us!

I notice we've got him at Halifax, next Sunday. Mind you, both games between Leigh and 'Fax were extremely 'feisty' last season!

No (less than 100) away fans in Championship games at Leigh....apart from you guys, Fax & Fev.....you'll get used to it after a couple of months.

dewsbury took a fair few to leigh in playoffs about 500 not bad when we only get about 8-900 home fans at dewsbury

Final Word: We are not in the fancy dan SL anymore. The purpose of the league this year is to finish as high up as possible and then get promoted afterwards. In each game there is only one aim and that is to get the two points available. Leigh did that, we didn't. At the end of the year how they did it was immaterial.

Just exuberance and adrenalin - however, he has been warned about it before. It could injure someone, or inflame opposing supporters. No danger when he does it at our end - our North Standers feel nowt!

Think its time to lock the thread and move on - let the "investigations" take course - and hopefully a few gobs stay shut for a while.

It was more the way Brierley stared at the away fans before throwing the ball into them that caused some ill feeling I think. I personally didn't see a massive amount wrong with it, it's not like he stuck fingers up or goaded them (as Hopkins did a little at the end - goaded, not fingers), but it's very easy to wind up fans when you've just scored against them.

So a player throws a ball into the crowd, and people cite injury waiting to happen...it's not even a hard throw, see it all the time on tv after a try.
