Nothing about him says he wouldn't be a good captain. infact i think bringing in the new guy and having him call the shots would be beneficial to the team'"
I agree. Orford is the natural choice for me, and a new start with two new halfs and a new captain who hasn't been at the club could be just what we need, a new start after last year. (Morrison was made V.Capt after 1 training session IIRC)
The only other option I'd go for is Langley, with Orford leading matters on the pitch from 7 by default anyway. But I'd pick Orford without doubt.
I said at the end of the season that the recruitment started and ended with the halfs and I wanted 2, didn't think we'd get it but we have (assuming Kearney does start and stay at 6 and not move to 1) so I'm happy with our recruitment given the players that have been available.
I cant wait for the new season now.

Oh well, so much for our (my) expert thoughts . If the man hiself doesn't think its right then it wont happen. Quite simple now then, Langley for captain for me I think.

| He will surely be appointed Vice-Captain, with Morro the precedent?

Seems he's more concerned with not ruffling the feathers of his new team mates before he's even met them that actually turning down the captaincy.
Think once he's over and has settled in with his new team he might have a different answer

Thats right, thinking about it its pretty much what I'd expect any new "star" player to say before he's even in the country.

If McNamara names Langley before Orford comes over that could well be the case. Like I said previously you would expect Orford as an experienced leader at 7 to be a natural leader on the park anyway, whoever has the armband.

| I'd make langley club captain but have menzies as on field captain,as I dont think langley would be as effective questioning decisions as menzies would. think Orford will be captain in all but name though.

13554.jpg The phrase politically correct is in itself politcally incorrect so should be rephrased politically stupid!
If you like old type radio comedy/ dramas etc listen to //pumpkinfm.com/
Statistically speaking you have a better chance of getting dead the older you get!

| When talking to one of the senior players whose name has been mentioned, he said it didn't mean much on the field as everyone should take responsibility during the game, and was suprised Ox had declined the captaincy when told.

| Now, after reading that, I think Macca's waited this long to talk Orford round into captaining the side. I'd have no complaints about Orford getting it really, he's a natural leader and a great captain.

think its more a case of waiting for orford to get here and giving him a couple of weeks with the group before announcing anything, rather than announcing it as a fait accomplit and potentially putting other players noses out of joint. Can't really see it being anyone other than ox, with either lynch or langley as club captain announced just before or just after leeds friendly at a guess.

| Just listened to the Matt Orford interview on BBC Sport and when asked about the captaincy he didn't decline it or anything, he just said it would be a great honour to captain a club but he says you have to earn respect from the players first. With the massive shake up we have had a wouldnt see it been a problem. Orford for captain and Langley for club captain.
