| Quote: Hopebull "I don't think we can afford the luxury of a director of rugby unless there's somebody prepared to do it for nothing. Cummins is either up to the job or he's not. He's been an assistant for long enough. I can't think of any coaches who didn't start as an asistant- Shaun Wane was an assistant last season.
They either
1, Have a target from outside the club in mind.
2, Advertise the post - but as we need someone fairly quickly the process would probably take too long.
3, Promote from within - ie Cummins gets the job.'"
It's hard to say what cash will be available. I know, I've said myself, a few times, we probably won't have money for this, that and the other, but in truth we really don't know exactly what will be available and before we forget, OK has already said the full cap is there to spend, so it doesn't sound [iexactly[/i like it's being run on a shoestring. I guess that there is also the possibility that OK will be trying to get more people (and finance) onto the board and maybe there will be some experience there. does anyone know if Gary Tasker is remaining as chief exec? He certainly has a wealth of experience and would take much of the load from the other guys. I'd say someone of his ilk would be an essential part of a well run club.
Taken at face value though, and having no knowledge of other appointments, I have to say that a rookie coach along with owners with no real experience in RL does sound to be taking a risk, and I'd suggest that the 'director of rugby' route might be the safer option, with the obvious tag - with money being available.

| I think we are watching the latest example of an assistant promoted beyond his capability in Paul Anderson. I will give him 10 matches next season.

| Chris Irvine has tweeted that it's Cummins, in such a way that suggests he knows it's definitely him.

So what are you saying? That I dont have a brain coz your wrong and I would say the majority of the fans would be happy to see the back of Mr Mcdermot. Are you even a Leeds fan

| Quote: Leeds lover "So what are you saying? That I dont have a brain coz your wrong and I would say the majority of the fans would be happy to see the back of Mr Mcdermot. Are you even a Leeds fan'" I'm not a feck[sizew[/sizeit so I guess it does narrow down the likelihood that I'm a Leeds fan.
I notice that last night, in the middle of battle in the biggest game of Leeds' domestic season to date, some of the Leeds morons found the energy to boo Brian Mac when he was pictured on the screen. Good supporting that. It's not like under his stewardship Leeds hold two of the four available trophies or anything.
Then again a significant number of them also did that on Keith Senior's first few home appearances in 2000 before spending the next decade declaring their adoration to him so imbecility, two-facedness and an inherent lack of understanding of Rugby League are nothing new to these muppets.
Strangely enough, when he was club captain a decade or so ago, Francis Cummins entertainingly once went rogue and was quoted in the press slagging off Leeds fans for their feck[sizew[/sizeit tendancies. So strike that up in his favour as he becomes Bullies' head coach. I'm not convinced he's the answer though - I know, don't judge a book by its cover blah did blah but he doesn't strike me as having the inherent authority you might need for the head coach role. In the Bulls' present position of presumably somewhat restricted circumstances I would have gone for Kear as the man for the job.

| So your not a Leeds fan but slag me off, Implying I dont have a brain or am a t as you put it yet you imply that most Leeds fans are happy with the standard of rugby being displayed under coach Mcdermotts tenure then tell us in your next post he was booed when shown on the screen by the very fans your implying are happy with the standard of rugby Doesnt really make sense, the booing would imply your wrong and despite winning 2 of the 4 available trophies most would say they won inspite of the coach having been such a successful group of individuals before Mr Mcdermott took the reins as it were

| I know Cummins is inexperienced, but he's always been very loyal - both as a player and coach. Your side started to gel together really well through all the recent troubles, and a lot of that will be down to friendships strengthened in adversity. Going to a new coach from outside could damage that in the short-term, whereas you'd think the players would feel that they owed Cummins some loyalty given he's stuck around without being paid.
I'm not suggesting that is the only criteria for a head coach, but you can't buy that sort of bonding within the squad and with the coach. I've seen teams with nothing much but team spirit do very well indeed - and teams full of big names do nothing as the one thing they lacked was team spirit.
