| Quote: phillgee "hopefully we never saw the best of him because he came with a lot of pedigree. a bit of a shame he couldn't put it right under the new regime but we're not short of second rowers so a quota spot used there is not much use.'"
Agree with that. Think hall would have had a big season this year but there's weaker areas in squad we can use quota spot on. And more importantly at moment we've taken away a lot of orfords leverage.
Presumably we've had to pay hall off. Anyone know how that payment will be counted on salary cap?
All on this years or spread over remainder of his deal?

| A shame that we never saw him at his best. I'm sure everyone wishes him and his wife well with their pregnancy following the tragedy they suffered before. Only speculating but being back home in Australia would seem a better place to be for peace of mind and family support.
Good luck Glenn.

1) We can use the quota spot elsewhere.
2) He wants to go back to Australia.
3) He was sh*te.
I think that about sums it up?
I know he came with pedigree and I know he had some circumstances that may have affected things. I also know he wasn't played in his best position. But he did play a little second row, and he was still crap. I was hoping he'd improve this year, but him leaving is a better result IMO. Yeah, he may have come good. But did we want to waste another year waiting to find out? Personally, no.
All the best to him back in Australia, but I do think this is the best thing for our club.

Spread from my reading of the Operational Rules.

It's mentioned in the T&A article that we have agreed compensation.
Personally I think after his performances last year, he should have owed US money.....

| He never looked the player we all expected and wanted him to be. Poor coaching, carrying injuries, personal issues, who knows?
From memory he didn't say too much in the press and moan about things - kept himself to himself. He turned up with the youngsters for pre-season. He didn't perform on the pitch but I admire his attitude off the pitch in that respect. Hope he finds a club in Aus and he and his wife have no problems with their future arrival.
As I stated on the rumours thread - not too surprised, as we had to find a way to get Herbert on the quota. With Orford still being "registered" we had to release someone. If we can sort Orford quickly (which I doubt given the recent developments of certain solicitors becoming involved) we would have a quota space available if someone becomes available.
Until we release Orford though, I wouldn't get too excited about anyone coming in on quota. A non quota player could come in though.....but doubt Leon!

| It was a real shame that Hall was so rubbish really. He came with a good pedigree, and when I first watched him in the Boxing Day friendly at Cas, he looked very much the workhorse that would spend 60 minutes of every game tackling his knackers off. From all accounts, he was a star behind the scenes too, with complete professionalism and a well liked bloke. It would also have been nice for it to work out for him considering the tragedy he had just before coming over.
Personally I don't think the change of position was as big a factor as some make out, as even with that change, he should have performed better (and longer) than he did. But whatever the reason, it's quite clear that it didn't work out. Regardless of what happened on the pitch though, you can't fail to wish him all the best in his future career and more importantly the best of luck with the future birth of his young 'un. Thoroughly decent bloke who had a very bad year all round that he didn't deserve.
Release should be the best thing for all parties.
Oh, and I never realised he was married to Kylie. We should have had her do some pre-match entertainment

| I imagine that the compensation would be minimal - I get the feeling that this is a genuine 'mutual consent'. He wants to go back and we are happy for him to do so.
Maybe a couple of months pay to tide him over until he finds a club.
Thanks for the effort Glenn and thanks for conducting yourself with such dignity, when others in a similar position have failed so spectacularly on this front.

| I liked Glen Hall and I will never forget that try against Wigan. I thought he suffered in a struggling team where he was being asked to take a different and perhaps unexpected role and we never quite saw the best of him. I hope he manages to make a success of things back in the NRL and wish him and his wife all the luck in the world with the new addition when s/he comes along.
